Title says it all.

Waste of time and money.

gobbledegook1 · 19/03/2012 18:44

No you are not, I couldn't give two hoots either.

SauvignonBlanche · 19/03/2012 18:45

YANBU at all, I don't give a flying fuck either, unless they're planning on going through my kitchen - then I'll graduate to pissed off.

Florin · 19/03/2012 18:45

I can't believe all the fuss about it, all seems over the top

PersonalClown · 19/03/2012 18:48

I was nosey to see where it was going...

so I can avoid it!Grin

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 19/03/2012 18:50

indeed. and it's going round the back of my house, on a Saturday, which
means I'll have to do me shop in shitty bloody Tesco instead of Sainsbo's. Inconsiderate gits.

valiumredhead · 19/03/2012 18:52

Me neither

itchitch · 19/03/2012 18:53

Ha ha! Made me laugh! I read that out to my partner and he said YANBU!

redskyatnight · 19/03/2012 19:00

Roads on and around the Olympic torch route are being closed off. In some places people are being encouraged to have street parties. If you live or work even remotely close to the route, you probably want to know about it :)

TidyDancer · 19/03/2012 19:04

It's going through my town. DS has a thing about it at the moment, so we will probably go.

WetAugust · 19/03/2012 19:05

I wouldn't cross the road to piss on it to put the flame out.

NearlyMrsCustardsHardHat · 19/03/2012 19:06

It's going past my house, at the time I need to leave for work. I'm not impressed.

Pixel · 19/03/2012 19:09

Dh was reading something out about it earlier, I feigned interest Grin. Actually it's going right past my step-brother's house rather him than me.

cocolepew · 19/03/2012 19:11

DD1 got very excited about it going through our town, so I promised I would take her.

Then she told me it was at half seven in the morning Hmm

Haribojoe · 19/03/2012 19:12

YANBU

lisaro · 19/03/2012 19:12

Couldn't give a flying fuck fart. Olympic proportion or otherwise.

Pandemoniaa · 19/03/2012 19:12

I didn't give a fuck about it either. Until I realised I was performing at it as it whizzes through town. Now I'm feeling very slightly benevolent.

dementedma · 19/03/2012 19:13

well my SIL is one of the people chosen to carry it. She was chosen because of her VOLUNTEER work with International Rescue, where she travels round the world to crawl into collapsed buildings in the aftermath of earthquakes to try and rescue survivors. Last year she swam the Channel to raise funds for International Rescue so they can continue to risk their lives to save others. If she is proud to be carrying the flame, then I am not going to be the one to say it is a waste of her time!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 19/03/2012 19:13

Oh yes. Had a letter home from the school today. They have moved a training day so are now shut on the day that the Olympic Torch comes to town, because they couldn't be arsed to organise taking the children so are assuming that we'll do it.

Except......I'm at work. So is husband. Although he now has to arrange a day off. He won't be taking the children to see it, because they care not for the Olympic Torch.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDawn · 19/03/2012 19:14

I wasn't bothered, but a friend of mine is doing a bit of the "running along waving it over his head" thing, and he is really thrilled and excited about the whole thing, so I shall take the DCs and line the route and we will all cheer him and wave as he goes past.

pengymum · 19/03/2012 19:28

I am not bothered by any of the olympics rubbish tbh - the cycling is closing the roads round here so won't be able to get out or our cul-de-sac or get a bus.

I don't get the hype about sports events or concerts - like glasto. Nice to go to a live match or event if you actually see anything but just to be a pinhead in a sea of people! No thanks.

Lost what little interest I had when the ticket lottery fiasco started - I always prefer to watch these type of events on tv as can't see why I should pay to go and see matchstick figures in the distance or huge screens when I can do so in the comfort of my own home with everything to hand. Grin

And don't see why the torch is going all over the place rather than straight? Whole thing is a totally pointless waste of time and money imho. But if anyone else thinks it is fab, go enjoy, just don't go on about how fantastic it all is !

FilterCoffee · 19/03/2012 19:29

YANBU, I'm not remotely interested in the torch route or even the Olympics. Only reason for looking at the route is to somehow avoid the extra traffic on those days.

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 19/03/2012 19:36

Yanbu I couldn't give a stuff either !!!

TheOldestCat · 19/03/2012 19:41

YANBU - tis up to you.

Like dementedMa though, I've a personal reason - going to watch my aunt, who volunteers and fundraises for several charities, including a children's hospice and the Teenage Cancer Trust, carry the torch. Will be proud of her.

I should imagine the families and friends of the other 7,000 odd torchbearers are quite proud of them too.

Also, it's coming through our little town, so will see it there too and take DD and DS.

I promise not to go on about how fab I think it is though Grin

I would be happy for it to go past my front door. As it is the torch will going through the town city centre (can you guess where I am Smile) before 7.00am on a saturday. That's not a time I'm very familiar with. Would much rather look out bedroom window than drag my arse up that early.
