Because well, i just do!

I like that some of them still open doors for me

I like that my DP obsesses over the log burner and keeps my tootsies toastie warm - i just do not have the firelighting gene and will FREEZE until he gets home from work if it is cold and i refuse to put the heating on.

I like having conversations with a little bit of harmless flirtation

I find that some men are actually bitchier than women and this amuses me

Actually, i can't really think of any solid reason why i like men - but they are delicious creatures really, aren't they.

So theres the challenge ladies

I like men, because............

I like most people - male or female - unless they give me reason not to.

ChickensHaveNoLips · 19/03/2012 14:48

I like mens arms. And shoulders

GrimmaTheNome · 19/03/2012 14:48

They can think more rationally than women
speak for yourself! Grin

Obv as many have said, I like lots of men and women and dislike few of each.

Things I tend to like about men more than women - I do love a nice deep voice on a man. I like male bearhugs (TBH DD is the only female I really like hugging).

And again obv, love that DH really is a DH and a great daddy.

I've only ever met two men I disliked, one of those was my headmaster at school, the other was a mean road rage man who pulled over and blocked my car then spat as he was raging and frothing at me through the car window. I'd only passed my test two days before.

As luck and good sense would have this did not turn me against all men, which my husband and my sons are very grateful for I'm sure.Smile

hopkin · 19/03/2012 14:50

I have seem many a situation where a woman has made a fool out of herself for being irrational.

So have I :) I'm looking at one now, actually Grin Wink

I am extremely pissed off with mine atm as he is a knob of the highest order has bought a jetski, A JETSKI, off ebay for 50 quid probably nearer £100

This effing jetski will now sit amongst the crashed motorbike, the 2 seized outboard engines, and all the other crap projects in his shed. Oh but he doesn't have time for hobbies which is because he is a procrastinating fool somehow my fault as I asked him to complete the patio when my now 5 year old was toddling and he hasn't done it yet. This is somehow stopping him from doing all the things he wants to do and not the fact that he owns an xbox

Sorry. I don't think I am going along with the spirit of the thread but this AIBU after all, I have literally just found out about the piece of junk jetski, and this rant has saved all of you me from starting up a thread about it.

Men are FABULOUS.

Devora · 19/03/2012 14:53

I feel like I've spent half a lifetime reassuring people that I don't hate men (because I'm a lesbian, and daughter of a single mother, and mother of daughters, and have always worked in female-dominated jobs).

I can't be arsed any more. I take people as I find them, generally. I find the swivel-eyed neurotics weeping in the ladies that 'all men are bastards' about as appealing as the angry man who demands that you justify why his ex-wife was such a critical gold-digging bitch.

Sorry if this isn't in the spirit of the thread. I'm just feeling narked at all this f4j nonsense sapping MN energy and also slightly Hmm at how many posters are pointing out the men they love as some kind of response. Isn't that just the equivalent of all those tiresome men who deny they have any kind of problem with women because - look! - they were raised by women (no shit) and they have a wife, and a daughter...

I think gender anger is a very real issue for f4j. I don't believe it's a significant issue for MN (which is not to say that some posters don't write stuff I find OTT and unpleasant, sometimes). I don't want to reassure anybody that I love men because it's really not MY problem.

nobutyeahbut · 19/03/2012 14:53

StrandedBear your post made me cry.

Your dh sounds like a wonderful dad, just like my late stepdad..i was his daughter he was my dad. Biology didn't come into it, she's a very lucky girl.

nobutyeahbut · 19/03/2012 14:54

*apologies for lack of punctuation due to crying!

Devora · 19/03/2012 14:54

I've just read my post back and I do sound a bit curmudgeonly. OP, I'm really pleased you've got so many lovely men in your life Smile

GrimmaTheNome · 19/03/2012 14:56

Oh, I've seen men being irrational in those situations. The main difference is that its not so obvious because they tend not to get flustered about it as women. They may not look as foolish but may end up digging themselves in deeper (classic example - a lost woman will ask for directions, looks foolish but that's actually the rational thing to do,whereas man is more likely to drive on, won't look foolish but really not being sensible).

buttonmoon78 · 19/03/2012 14:56

everlong

It's in every one of those situations that my dh backs off and leaves me to it. Far more rational and more likely to get what we want/need.

Stranded you've posted about your dp before. He sounds like a gem. Smile

hopkin · 19/03/2012 14:58

everlong - and long may it continue! Just stay away from airports Wink
And roundabouts. And carparks. And drills and hammers.

FreudianSlipper · 19/03/2012 15:14

because it is what some believe to be true and that amuses and annoys me

there are a million and one things i like about men and women and i do not do the my man bit, one becasue at the moment i am single and secondly i just never have i prefer to talk about the wonders of me :)

bejeezus · 19/03/2012 15:14

Give me a minute to quiet my irrational mind...and ill be back to answer you. If I don't get stuck at the roundabout. Or overcome by airports Grin

nenevomito · 19/03/2012 15:16

I like people who aren't nobbers.

This includes men. Shock

I know.

BlueNails · 19/03/2012 15:32

I love a nice strong, muscley hug that I only get from men (I know women can be strong and muscley too, but none of them have ever hugged me)

I love a man to do DIY (again, not that women can't, just that I can't)

I love that my son is going to be raised a gentleman (albeit, not by one at least not yet, I will have to meet one first) and will be taught to open doors etc.

I also love that they have cocks Grin or Shock (depending how you look at it)

Chilenachica · 19/03/2012 15:58

I don't dislike men any more than I dislike women. I've met quite a few nice/good men, but unfortunately am not related to any of them. I think I like men despite the ones in my family. Lot's here are truly gentlemen, as opposed to being A Gentleman, despite the highly sexist society-Latin America, whereas many I encountered in the developed world couldn't comprehend the word gentle if their lives depended on it.

catgirl1976 · 19/03/2012 16:01

I also like most men and most women and dislike some men and some women

I do like that men sometimes have scratchy stubbly faces which I find much less attractive on women. Plus I like a nice deep manly voice and big bicepy arms. (but again not on women)

Fecklessdizzy · 19/03/2012 16:02

One word ... Pirates.

I mean, how fab are pirates? The world would be a duller and sadder place without them. ( Fictional Jack Sparrowesque Aaaar-Haaargh sort of pirates, not actual hurty, stealy ones, obviously )

Oh, and sex.

With the above.

Grin
SunSoakedStone · 19/03/2012 16:12

They can carry lots of heavy bottles of rum tins of beans home from the shops.

Having said that my DH is in general a very BAD man but I do enjoy my platonic relationships with men. Even if they do pick you up and leave you stranded on top of vending machines.

Goawaybob · 19/03/2012 16:23

Pirates are not a good thing Feckless - i have never understood why men who rape and murder and considered to be romantic and dashing, and im even more perplexed why my DDs catholic school has pirate days. Its generally not all yo ho ho and a bottle of rum, but rather kidnapping, ransoms and murder :( Thats another thread though.

I like me a huge strong man who could snap me in half if he really wanted to, but doesn't
