oh, that thread was the op as well? tbh I didn't read it because I assumed it was just a pisstake. I've obviously led a sheltered life if there are really nutters out there that think like that.

Here op have a munch on this lovely nestle Biscuit Grin

exoticfruits is right, though. Almost everything you buy in supermarkets is manufactured by a handful of multinationals, of which Nestle is one. It's very very hard to boycott Nestle successfully because a lot of the time you're buying Nestle products and don't even realise it.

bumbleymummy · 18/03/2012 11:52

Do you have any links to show which companies make which products for them exotic/hackmum? I doubt I'm buying anything that could be produced by Nestle anyway but it might be useful for others...

Haven't read all the comments so apologies if I repeat, this subject has been around for at least 15 years, I did a report on it at school and that was quite some time ago. I can't believe Nestlé is still getting away with this crap. Anyway, the WHO used to recommend that those passionate about the cause boycott NESCAFE not the entire brand (almost impossible even if you tried).

Yes it's an impossible task to boycott every product made by a company with questionable moral standards but I think that doing nothing is the opposite extreme. The point isn't to put the company out of business; it's to make them realise the power of consumers, by boycotting their 'biggest selling' product an impact is made which one would hope would make them rethink their conduct. Of course they could just rebrand/rename that product but I think if we all just stood back and said "I can't make a difference " nothing would ever change

Richocet · 18/03/2012 18:21

It's scandalous, cupof. I must admit I've bought Nestlé without realising before, but I find it easy to boycott their coffee, chocolate and cereals.
