...to get p'd off by parent and child parking

Clockingout · 13/03/2012 09:30

3 points:

  1. Parents with children over, say, 7/8 should not use pc parking
  2. Elderly/disabled people should not use pc parking
  3. People should not park in pc parking if they are not getting out with their child, i.e. other parent is popping in.
  4. Parents should not park in disabled spaces.

Do you, would you ever say anything? I am too wimpy so just complaining on here instead...

Where I live there a signs that p&c spaces are only for those with under 5's

MamaMaiasaura · 13/03/2012 11:03

For those with issues reading iirc the parent and Child space at tesco are for parents/carers with children with under 7 might even be younger. So what of they weren't around before. They are now. Many things weren't around "back in the day". That's the beauty of progress, things change. Unfortunately the fact there are ignorant fucktards does not

Calamityboo · 13/03/2012 11:05

Am I too late, I have been out, I have my Dobber ready, just going to have a read through the thread to make sure all the usual points have been properly covered! Grin

C0smos · 13/03/2012 11:05

They should be banned, plenty of parents manage just fine on public transport, so why can't a car driving parent manage to walk across a car park, I've never used them and have never seen them in any other country

2shoes · 13/03/2012 11:09

yabu disabled people(BB) can park in P&T spaces
yawn

No make the frail bastards get out of their cars without any space to move and make them run across the carpark.

P&T spaces are there because car parking spaces have got smaller and everyone is required to be in a car seat under a certain age, rear facing car seats are especially difficult to undo and pull a child out without decent space (ie door wide open). In addition cars have got a lot bigger. And it's good that children aren't left to walk far across a carpark, think huge heavy trolley, a child that bolts and is too big for the trolley or baby in baby trolley.

Calamityboo · 13/03/2012 11:16

atruth, sparkling, room for another I will bring Brew Biscuit. Now correct me if I am wrong but we are near to a full house, I have seen melting children, not in my day, entitlement, I dont own a car and the usual P&C vs disabled. There can't be much left now?

Couldn't believe my luck when I realised someone had started bingo today!! :)

I had an argument once with a lad who took the last parent and child space, he got out with a boy of 14 and took great joy in telling me that in the eyes of the law he is a child so he can park there.

KalSkirata · 13/03/2012 11:26

well I catch the bus to the supermarket but I do have a blue badge. I just ask the bus driver to park across all P%C spaces Grin

catgirl1976 · 13/03/2012 11:26

I park where I like (other than the disabled spots) as I have a massive sense of entitlement

I used them when pregnant as I was with child and am pretty sure that counted

ButterPecanMuffin · 13/03/2012 11:47

There's a solution.

Have groceries delivered.

mayorquimby · 13/03/2012 11:51

"took great joy in telling me that in the eyes of the law he is a child so he can park there."

He could have just told you that in the eyes of the law p&c parking spaces are a nonsense.
I won't go out of my way to park in them, but if they're one of the only spots left available I'll use them.

JeremyKylesPetProject · 13/03/2012 12:01

I couldn't care less. I would never use a disabled space and tbh I have never seen anyone use one who didn't seemingly need it. Its not worth the fine to even chance it. However P&C spaces are a rake of shite. They take up too much space. People say that need the space but really they just want to park closer to the store, t'otherwise you'd park at the back where the sexual deviants and secret eaters park. I can't stand the preciousness and sense of entitlement some parents have. I have used them if available. I certainly don't wait in a queue for one. If you don't have enough room to reach in and get your kids out in a normal space then you need a smaller car and/or further parking lessons.

FutureNannyOgg · 13/03/2012 12:40

My local supermarket redid the car park, they made p&c normal width, but close to the door. Completely pointless. I can't park with enough room for 20 week bump on my side and 18mo ds on the other. I tend to park near a path or corner further away for the room, but I have to carry the giant toddler with pgp and arthritis unless I can find a nearby trolley.

RVF400 · 13/03/2012 12:41

At Tescos yesterday I noticed that the P&C spaces are closer to the store than the disabled spaces Shock
what's that all about?

I do use the P&C spaces, like other posters have said it's v difficult to get rear facing car seats in & out of the car in a normal space, particularly when people with massive cars park badly.

In our local (small town) car park the spaces are so tiny I can only reverse in, which means I have to stop and take the pushchair out of the boot first. Of course no-one without DCs understands what on earth I am up to, cue lots of beeping and frustrated hand signals. It's good motivation to walk instead.

RVF400 · 13/03/2012 12:44

park at the back where the sexual deviants and secret eaters park

hahahaha

sue52 · 13/03/2012 12:48

I always park at the back when possible because there are more spaces and the car is less likely to get a bash from a passing trolley. I must look out for the sexual deviants as it will make the stroll to the shop more interesting.

Honeydragon · 13/03/2012 12:51

Drive Thru Supermarkets would be rubbish, i can see the threads now

AIBU to think I shouldn't have to stuck behind he bus at the drive Thru?

AIBU to think their should be a special parents lane at the Drive Thru so my dc don't have to queue?

YonWhaleFish · 13/03/2012 12:53

secret eaters

You been spying on me?!

LookAtAllTheseFucksIGive · 13/03/2012 12:57

Secret eaters is sooo true!

Glitterknickaz · 13/03/2012 12:58

I've got disabled children under the age you specify, OP. Where should I park?
(I alternate cos whatever I do I piss someone off, can't win)
