to ask why on earth my thread was deleted?

I asked a few questions about perceptions of single parents for my sociology assignment, whicanyh is to do with comparing the perception of single parents with the reality.

A very few people seemed to think I was being provocative. Most people were supportive and there were lots of interesting comments.

I now find that it's been deleted!?! What on earth? Compared to most of the stuff I read on AIBU it was completely tame and non-offensive stuff. Is it against the MN law to discuss single parents?

I am not a journalist, MNHQ can I'm sure see that I have been a regular mumsnetter for years. I was just trying to have a discussion about perceptions of single parent families. I am a single parent myself, I am a long term member of MN. I don't get it :(

Anyway, thank you to all those rational people who replied, luckily I had collected everyone's answers and will be able to use them in my assignment so your kind efforts weren't wasted

singlemumperceptions: Did you not get our mail? We did mail you a while ago.

@singlemumperceptions

Maryz, yes it prob was a bit cheeky to post it on AIBU, but I have seen it done many times before and so didn't realise it was so terrible. Anyway I thought it had turned into a quite interesting post about single parenthood and some of the difficulties around discussing it and the perceptions of it. And because of some of the responses it really did become an AIBU in relation to was it reasonable of me to ask questions about how people view SPF, or was merely asking the question an incitement to 'bashing'.

Anyway, it's been an interesting experience and has given me lots to think about in terms of the 'methodology' section of my assignment and how problematic questionnaires can be!

I have not received your email Helen. Not to worry, I've had plenty of suggestions here as to why it was deleted. I will not make the same mistake again :)

Night all, and thanks again to all those who contributed to the debate

That's a shame, singlemumperceptions, because you may have got the wrong end of the stick. Is your registered email address up to date? If not, we could PM you.
