My friend had a Japanese manager called (sorry no idea how to spell it but it sounded like) Mr Fukytoome.

Also once had a customer called Mike Coldick.

I saw the start of Newsnight yesterday, and they mentioned a photographer named William Dangles. When I considered that his name can be shortened to Willy Dangles I had to retire, in tears, to bed.

GingerWrath · 09/03/2012 20:23

I also used to work with a Christopher Peacock. He was a reporter for London Tonight and then Meridien. He used to positively revel in being called Chrispy :o

We went to a restaurant once and had to wait for a table. They were calling through people by their names and the waiter came through and shouted 'table for the rabbit family!'
There were four rabbits, DH and I speculated that their names might be roger, peter, Jessica and rampant. I could not breathe for laughing. They did look a bit rabbit like too. When we walked past them on the way to our table and saw they all had carrots with their lunch I actually thought I might burst.

Small things.

What a fantastic thread, I'm crying with laughter.

I work as a supply teacher and once overheard a conversation in the staffroom about one of the teachers who had just got engaged. She was discussing whether or not she should take his surname when they married. His surname was Bacon. Not a bad name except her first name was Megan Grin

Sudaname · 09/03/2012 20:50

Oh I've just remembered my grandparents used to have a GP called Dr Allcock and they called him Dr Noballs. They even had Dr Noballs written on their emergency numbers sheet stuck to the wall in their flat. I didn't get it for years.

Proudnscary · 09/03/2012 22:08

(crying with laughter at this thread)

stickyj · 09/03/2012 22:19

As a PA I once got asked to announce on the tannnoy thingy, "Michael Hunt, anyone got Michael Hunt in their office?". I was told that he hated to be called Michael and to shorten it to Mike, I only said it once but my boss insisted it said it at least three times over the phone thingy. I was trying really hard not to snigger because I actuallt thought it might be genuine.

Was it Fu...? The whole office of men, the whole office was actually crying.Blush

stickyj · 09/03/2012 22:22

Oh and I used to work in a bank as my first job. We used to have to actually print the cheque books by hand with a metal plate and a machine and then announce to the customers, by name loudly, that their cheqie book was ready.

"Mr Wanklyn, Mr Wanklyn, your cheque book is ready to collect"
