But how do you click links? Or do I just have fat fingers?

The pinch to expand annoys me irrationally :)

Stealthpolarbear - I have an HTC and have exactly the problems you describe, especially "if I want to go up in the box and correct something I use the touch screen to place the cursor where I want it, but as soon as I've done that it jumps about" - plus sometimes clicking on links works and sometimes it doesn't.

lesterlassone · 09/03/2012 10:19

Oh dear, I think the brain cells are hibernating today ... I glanced at the heading and in my head it translated to "ask whether any mns (mumsnetters) are htc (hoping to conceive) using their mobiles" ...... time for chocolate :)

tyler80 · 09/03/2012 10:22

are you using standard browser? download opera mini and use that, no left/right scrolling needed

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 10:23

Think I need to start a thread in site stuff, just worried tech would come on and say we can't find anything wrong, anyone else and then id look an idiot as the thread would end there!

Stealth is it behaving now as far as the screen moving up and then not being able to see goes? Mine is

Enjoying having the two people with the most similar names to me on this thread :)

Oh, ok, am on the main site then. Sometimes it's fine (like now...) Other times it's all over the place, as you describe Confused.

Re: having to scroll left, mine usually adjusts itself I think, or I turn the screen on its side. And to get bigger text I put both fingers on the screen and expand IYSWIM?

vnmum · 09/03/2012 10:26

I have the HTC sensation and I too have the jumping cursor problem. I just put it down to the touch screen maybe not being so great. I do like my phone but I am toying with the idea of going for an iphone at upgrade as seem to be more apps available including the mumsnet talk one which isn't available on android

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 10:27

I've never used apps, what would a mn app give you the site doesnt?
Ok so it behaving for all. That would indicate it varies thread by thread or is based on time.

Grin, Stealth - I would like to think there was some sort of subliminal link between choice of phone and choice of name, but my phone was chosen for me by work - I don't even know what model it is Blush.

It doesn't jump around much - but links working or not working is intermittent and annoying. When I click on "reply" it only occasionally goes down to the box at the bottom of the thread. When I click on thread titles in a list, sometimes it goes to the thread, sometimes it goes to the topic, and sometimes it just ignores me.

I am on my PC now - BTW - it would take me for ever to post at this length on my phone, what with fat fingers and stupid autocorrect.

ruddynorah · 09/03/2012 10:30

I don't have this problem on my HTC desire. I usually use the app though rather than the mobile site. Why don't you use the app?

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 10:32

Ooh yes ikwym. Sometimes you lick reply and it sits there or even goes up. I mentioned this before, this is hen the page has fully loaded.

What does the app do the site doesnt?

Kveta · 09/03/2012 10:35

Sometimes you lick reply

this may be your problem then :o

BertieBotts · 09/03/2012 10:35

This happens to me and I have a Samsung (still android, though).

If it whizzes up you can usually grab the page itself and scroll back down so that it becomes visible.

Mine has a habit of un-selecting the text box, which is irritating. It hasn't done this for a while, though.

BertieBotts · 09/03/2012 10:36

I thought the app was just for iPhone?

StealthPolarBear · 09/03/2012 10:36

Oh sorry thought u were asking about FB. I have no problem with MN mobile site. No jumping around at all.

IgnoringTheChildren · 09/03/2012 11:47

I'm on a desire s and have the same issues. The cursor thing is only a problem sometimes though and when it happens I can usually force the phone to behave by holding my finger where I want the cursor for longer - it brings up a little "select word / select all" box (which I just ignore) but leaves the cursor where I want it. Also usually (but not always) magnifies the area of text allowing me to position the cursor more easily.

Think it's a phone software issue rather than MN mobile site issue.
