Frozen peas are the only acceptable frozen veg.

When growing up my Brother dated a girl who announced that she only ate tinned carrots and potatoes when sitting down to one of my Mum's delicious home made meals.

Oh how we smirked.

Lakeland - Lakeland, my second home.

we have a lovely stew when camping comprising of tinned veg !!!

valiumredhead · 08/03/2012 17:51

It's lovely steamed and vile when it's cooked too long and has gone mushy.

nkf · 08/03/2012 17:57

Frozen veg is brilliant apart from the mixed veg packs and mini carrots.

valiumredhead · 08/03/2012 17:58

Frozen sprouts are sooooooooo good!

My OH prefers raw veg so I have to be careful to never overcook veg. I use frozen brocolli all the time, just put in a covered microwaveably dish with a tbl water and nuke for 2mins so it steams effectively... it's not as crunchy as fresh but tastes just good imo.. when people are saying it is yuck disgusting are they boiling it? it as I can't imagine it would stand up well to that.

TheBigJessie · 08/03/2012 18:13

People have different tastes. Some people can differentiate between tastes that others can't. That's not preciousness. That's just people being different.

it's only preciousness, if you take a moral stand on frozen veg!

I remember that when I was pregnant, I used to eat ready-prepared mashed potato. I know lots would sneer at that, but at the time, it tasted nice. It might not taste nice to me now.

Perhaps I'm being too reasonable. Perhaps I should say:

I have sophisticated tastebuds.
You are fussy.
He is precious.

TheBigJessie · 08/03/2012 18:24

I can taste the difference between Branston baked beans and Tesco value. Branston are disgusting and stodgy. They make me feel sick. But I love Tesco value baked beans. Mmmm.

Moln · 08/03/2012 18:36

the idea of branston baked beans makes me squirm (despite liking pickle) so I've never even tried them

iIt's either Heinz orr Batchlors bought in my house. One of the few things I go for a brand wth

imnotmymum · 08/03/2012 18:41

Branston beans do not actually have Branston Pickle in !! They are just not nice

TheBigJessie · 08/03/2012 18:47

You're missing nothing, I assure you. God, I can taste the foul things now, when I think back. I bought them because they were on offer and oh, they were awful. It was bleddy torture eating them.

Moln · 08/03/2012 18:51

Oh I know they don't it's just the idea of it!

Irrational I know, but it stops me even trying them

TheBigJessie · 08/03/2012 19:04

D'you know, though, last week, someone posted, on some thread or other, that Branston was their favourite brand of bean!

There's a lesson here that some people will eat any crap that we are all individuals, and we shouldn't judge each other. Except for the Branson Bean weirdoes, obviously.

imnotmymum · 08/03/2012 19:14

I do not believe it TheBigJessie they must be a Branston representitive me thinks. I used to live at Branston though as a kid !

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 08/03/2012 19:21

Branston Beans are the BEST!! Are you lot smoking something illegal??? Branston Beans Rock!!

imnotmymum · 08/03/2012 19:45

It is you isn't it the Branston rep ...serio all my kids think they gross as well these are the kids who eat skips [weird mush in mouth me thinks]

Frozen peas and sweetcorn are all fine ime.
Waitrose's frozen grilled vegetables are also great.
Green beans not too bad.
Frozen chopped shallots, garlic and herbs - all work fine
Frozen peppers not too bad in cooked food.

But the rest - tbh I'd rather not bother.

MrsMuddyPuddles · 08/03/2012 20:57

Frozen grilled vegetables! Shock there's a lot of recipes that I bypass because I CBA to pre-grill my veggies before using! What genious!

imnotmymum · 08/03/2012 21:00
