and leave it there so that it can get walked into my house and onto my 7 day old carpet then you deserve to be tortured to death slowly and painfully.

Am so angry right now that I would cheerfully do the dismembering myself.

It's not remotely unreasonable, is it? Feel free to help me to devise suitable tortures for these bastards. And please tell me if you know what I can do to ensure not the slightest particle of shit is left lingering in the carpet? (This is exactly why carpet is grim but that's a whole other thread.)

Agree but we take our shoes off when we walk into the dor so avoid such mishaps. However, I would get bicarb of soda make into a paste and then rub like hell into the spot(s). Then leave it to dry and then hoover up .It works with sick and chocolate so might work with crap.

Silverthorns · 07/03/2012 16:52

Thank you will try that. Fortunately most of it went on an off cut in the hall which I've just lobbed, but there was a bit by the door in the living room.

I feel absolutely sick.

pengymum · 07/03/2012 16:55

We don't wear outdoor shoes indoors for this reason. Dog, fox and bird poo!

But to get it out use a good steam cleaner. Will kill bugs, as well as deodorise and remove the stain.

Silverthorns · 07/03/2012 17:05

Bastards, honestly. I've never lived anywhere so literally covered in dog shit. It's a really nice little market town but it's totally ruined by these psychopaths who think that it's fine to leave steaming piles all over the place. The road leading up to the school is the worst, you literally can't lift your eyes from the pavement for a second. Hanging's too good fer 'em.

OP posts:
LeBOF · 07/03/2012 17:10

They are bastards, yes. I cannot understand why anybody does it, it's just vile.

They always seem to feed their dogs utter rubbish too, so it's all sloppy and revolting.

stickchildren3 · 07/03/2012 17:21

don't get me started silverthorns. I am utterly livid at the gits who leave it throughout our village, outside our house, all over the footpaths, in the churchyard, outside the school. It makes my blood BOIL. I can't tell you how many times I've had to clean dog shit off my children's school shoes.

In a rage only yesterday I phoned the council to see if they had any words of wisdom, but they said that the kind of person to leave their dog's crap on the street is the kind of person who wouldn't give a fuck about a member of the public following it up. He said all they would do is something like 'throw a brick through your window'!

So what I'm thinking is leaving a tasty little treat in my driveway. If their owner is so irresponsible that their dog is off the lead and in my property then they can't possibly complain if the dog is eating something - can they? Now I'm not anti-dogs so the treat would only make it VOMIT - but all over their owners carpet - because I am very anti-some dog owners. That any good?

WelshMoth · 07/03/2012 17:30

Today, I've had to strip and bathe a 6 year old girl who, because of the fine weather we had at lunchtime, was allowed onto our school playing field with the rest of the year group. She was happily running around when she tripped and fell headlong into the grass. It would have been a safe fall, had it not been for the dog excrement she fell into.

The thing is, our school is securely fenced, all around and the only, only way a dog owner would get onto it would be by lifting the dog over one of their own back gardens.

Poor love was in bits. It was in her hair, her clothes. And even though we stripped her to her undies and scrubbed her hair in the shower (whilst someone was phoning home to let her folks know), it was bloody grim for her.

Thoughtless dog owners beware - I am watching and waiting. It infuriates me.

ClothesOfSand · 07/03/2012 17:31

I don't think dogs should be exercised on school playing fields in the first place.

Silverthorns · 07/03/2012 17:35

stickchildren - I know someone here who has actually set up CCTV to capture a repeat offender...

This story was in the paper just before I left Manchester - I don't know what happened to the poor girl but it makes my blood boil. The bastards that let their dogs do this - do they know that it's not just bloody antisocial but it's really hazardous to health?

There should be a dog shit warden. He'd be paid for within days here.

Seriously though, is there anything that can be done? Not sure if writing to the council would get me anywhere realistically...

Silverthorns · 07/03/2012 17:38

Jesus, Welsh that's absolutely hideous. Poor little girl. Sad

D0oinMeCleanin · 07/03/2012 17:38

I think dog poo is next week, is it not? You're a week early, op. It's anti smoking this week and was benefits last week, so yup, poo is definately next week.

WelshMoth · 07/03/2012 17:41

You'd think that dog owners, even those that clean up after their pets, would avoid school fields. A steel fence was erected years ago around this field to protect it and we even close school gates during the day.

Oh no. It's not just any owner-less dog on a jaunt, it's someone from the many houses that back onto our field. Those with the lower fence who must have to lift themselves and their dog over the fence in order to exercise it on our field.

Fuchzia · 07/03/2012 17:42

I was thinking whilst scraping dog shit off my toddlers shoes (barely being able to bend down at nine months pregnant) that the only fitting punishment would be to make the owners come round and lick it off. Tossers.

Silverthorns · 07/03/2012 17:42

Nope. Poo is most definitely right now in my bloody house.

Didn't help that bizarrely my DS1 was ill and caught short at the same time so I finished cleaning up one pile and had to start on the next. Hmm

Ive told this before but will tell it again. Many years ago my late dh was doing some gardening in our front garden. A man walked past and didnt see dh. He let his dog crap on the grass near our house and went to carry on without picking up crap. Dh stood up and said very loudly "I hope your going to pick that up!?!" The only thing the man had was a very clean new white hanky and he had to use that!!! Wink

Silverthorns · 07/03/2012 17:44

Fuchzia - have been thinking similar. I have fantasies about catching some one doing it, picking it up for them and putting it into their pockets to take home. And giving it a really good pat from the outside.

Haven't thought through the practicalities of that one but I can dream.

OP posts:
D0oinMeCleanin · 07/03/2012 17:48

You need a loud and cheeky child. I have one you can borrow. You rant a lot when you see dog poo and they eventually copy by doing the following...

" Ew, that man didn't pick up his dog's poo. That is eggusting. Really eggusting. People like that shouldn't be allowed to own dogs. A child could fall over into that. I hope he worms his dogs at least. I bet he doesn't, if he can't even be bothered to pick up his dogs poo. Poor dog. Mam, look, isn't he eggusting?"

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 07/03/2012 17:53

Am dog owner, always pick up and bin poo, have extra bags in every pocket just in case. But I could use all those extra bags a hundred times over to collect all the poo I see on our walks. I think it's disgusting, and gives all dog owners a bad name, even when some of us do our best.

surroundedbyblondes · 07/03/2012 17:55

Vile, absolutely vile. We have a dog and even our three year old knows that we pick up her poo. Always. Without exception. Even in long grass. Because children like to run and explore in long grass. I resent all those nasty dog owners who don't pick up who 'spoil it for the rest of us'

At DD1's nursery they go out in the nearby forest on excursions weekly. The path is covered in dog crap. We have not yet been faced by poo-ey clothes but I imagine it is only thanks to the wonderful and watchful staff.

Oh, and don't get me started on the cat which poos on our garden almost every other day. I have to pick up its nasty, smelly little deposits - retching every time and because we have 2 little kids (and the dog!) in the garden we can't put any product down to keep the bastard away....

oldmum42 · 07/03/2012 17:55

YANBU OP. When my kids were small we lived in a village where there was a lovely playpark no-one used (only the teenagers looking for somewhere to hangout), as it was covered in dog poo (and unfenced), you could almost guarantee there would be a steaming pile near the bottom of the slide.... We used to drive to the next village and use that playpark as it was fenced and dogs were not allowed.

REMEMBER, don't dismember the offender on your new carpet! Unroll the old carpet, use it as a handy protective cover, roll up again with all the nasty body parts inside and dispose of........ simples.

sneezecakesmum · 07/03/2012 17:57

I used to collect poo from my dog too so p*d when others don't! (dog since deceased Sad

Shoes off at the door always!

Saw a man let his dog crap in a farmers field growing edible crops the other day omg omg omg OMG....wish I had a gun!

spanky2 · 07/03/2012 18:04

I have a bee in my bonnet about this too. There is always so much of it near ds1's school. We can't go down the re-named, dog poo alley as there is no where safe to tread. One time the poo was scattered in a long line, I don't think the poor dog's owner had even stopped. It makes me so mad! Love the story DOoinMeCleaning. Op, hope your carpet recovers, poor you not being able to enjoy that new carpet smell.
I moaned about the reckless owner that constantly let their dog poo around the tree my ds liked playing around. It is around the corner from my house and I was going to mention it when I saw the owner of the dog. Anyway, walking to school one morning I caught my cat burying his poo and running away from the tree. Oh dear.Blush

spanky2 · 07/03/2012 18:08

I just want to add at least with a dog you can clear up. I was always having to chase my cat out of the neighbour's front garden, she loved doing her business there. I also hate it when cats take half eaten creatures to other peoples gardens. So embarrassing. Yay Dogs?!

cakeismysaviour · 07/03/2012 18:14

YANBU - If they can't/won't pick up after their dog, then they are unfit for dog ownership.

MaureenMLove · 07/03/2012 18:21

Poor you.

I had a similar incident with a bloke leaving the dog poo, in a bag, in the gutter! Shock

I phoned the council and they sent someone round to talk to me and they patrolled the area for about a week. They then came back and told me their findings.

Worth a call to the council, I think.
