and leave it there so that it can get walked into my house and onto my 7 day old carpet then you deserve to be tortured to death slowly and painfully.

Am so angry right now that I would cheerfully do the dismembering myself.

It's not remotely unreasonable, is it? Feel free to help me to devise suitable tortures for these bastards. And please tell me if you know what I can do to ensure not the slightest particle of shit is left lingering in the carpet? (This is exactly why carpet is grim but that's a whole other thread.)

Hmm people get their cars confiscated (and crushed, eventually) if they don't pay tax etc. maybe the irresponsible owners would think twice if they could have their dogs confiscated, even for a week or a month. But then that's really not fair on the poor dog, and no council is going to pay to feed and home dogs are they? Bah. Innocent animals, it's the humans that should know better. As I said unthread I am a poo picking dog owner before anyone flames me!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 07/03/2012 18:25

Upthread not unthread !!

joanofarchitrave · 07/03/2012 18:27

If the dog poo warden was allowed to take a shit on the offender's sofa, they might think twice. (copyright Clive James)

ledkr · 07/03/2012 18:28

Old boot does this outside my front garden. She has a look first then fucks off leaving her dogs turd on my verge. I spoke to her about it and she was very dismissive so i saved a days nappies and put them on her doorstep.
I wonder if she guessed it was my good self Grin

BareBums · 07/03/2012 18:31

Have to say when I see dog owners picking it up I do want to say "thank you!" or something!!
It's horrible seeing poo everywhere

DoIgetastickerforthat · 07/03/2012 18:50

I would make the idle feckers clean the length of the street for a week (a month for an alley), on their hands and knees with a scrubbing brush. And I'd confiscate their dogs. And let anybody who has had dog shit on their shoes come and deficate in their front rooms. Filthy bastards.

pinktrees · 07/03/2012 19:55

I don't understand why we don't do something about this in the UK. It is filthy. It ruins parks (we don't go, put slide in garden instead because of dog poo park). I also choose to use my car to drive short distances because of dog poo on the pavements. I really worry about my children going blind due to some selfish fucker letting their dog crap anywhere they want. My SIL bought my DS a kite for his birthday. I don't know where to go to fly it because our park is so dog shitty. Fancy having to drive somewhere, just to fly a kite for a little boy. What a horrible country we live in where a few people ruin all the public facilities we have.

I think that people caught letting their dogs poo in public should have the dog poo rubbed into their eyes and be put in prison. Dog should go to a better home.

catdoctor · 07/03/2012 21:02

try biological detergent to clean up - good for crap and pee ( all species) but colour test first

MixedClassBaby · 07/03/2012 21:20

It's everywhere in the town I live. I find it depressing that I spend so much time looking down rather than up when out. Have had to clean it off buggy wheels so many times. Owners should have their noses rubbed in it.

Shelly32 · 07/03/2012 21:24

I have SUCH a bee in my bonnet over dog poo. Parasites in dog poo can send kids blind if the dog hasn't been wormed. The type of person to let their dog crap everywhere probably doesn't worm their dog either! Can't we set up a petition? In Norway it's illegal to let your dog poo in public and leave it! They burn it apparently..

catdoctor · 07/03/2012 21:27

The dog or the poo?

CrabbyBigbottom · 07/03/2012 21:29

am an utterly devoted dog owner to the excessive degree that our dog sleeps in the bed with us, head on our pillow, and is a more valued member of our family than any of you could ever be... Wink

People who leave their dog's shit in any place that it could cause inconvenience to anyone, should be liberally smeared with said shit, and then strung up in stocks for people to throw more dog shit at. If I can't bury it, I pick it up - I know that's easier for me living in a sandy landscape, but honestly - if you can't be arsed to pick up after you dog, DON'T GET A FUCKING DOG.

Makes me exceptionally cross.

Shelly32 · 07/03/2012 21:30

catdoctor lol!! The poo

Shelly32 · 07/03/2012 21:34

We have a mad crazy band of runners who go out around the town almost every day. Their trainers must be covered in it. I try and miss as much as i can with the buggy wheels but joggers/runners in the evening don't have the advantage of the light. Maybe mums should band together with their local keep fitters/runners and petition the council.. Although saying that, when I called the local council man who deals with dog mess out to see all the crap on our road, he said he's not allowed to take pics of people who let their dogs do that and without proof, no one can be prosecuted. What is the point of having someone in charge of it then??

Angelico · 07/03/2012 21:43

Vile fuckers!!! Makes me so mad. If people can't look after their dogs, they shouldn't be allowed to own one!!! I would LOVE to see a 'poop' warden!

Southsearocks · 07/03/2012 21:46

Rub their noses in it. They won't do it again!

YouOldSlag · 07/03/2012 21:54

I agree with all the rage on here. It makes my blood boil and I always say to my 5yo DS as we dodge yet more "People who can't pick up their dog's poo shouldn't have a dog". He now repeats this himself loudly. I hope to shame a shitter one day with his foghorn voice.

But how can we police this? If we don't see people doing it, then no amount of "On the spot fine" poster is going to stop them.
Serious question- what's the answer?

There is no limit to my anger on this matter and I actually do approach the nice dog owners who clear up and thank them. I am turning into my Aunty Joyce, but to hell with it: "As a mother, I'd just like to thank you for picking up after your dog. If only all dog owners were like you etc".

Whatmeworry · 07/03/2012 21:57

Walking home tonight, stereotype hoodie with staffie in front of me. Hoodie stops on pavement, dog squats and has a huge crap, off they walk.

Shooting is too good for them.

PeanutButterChocolate · 07/03/2012 22:02

I just don't understand these threads. Who does this? Are these people walking under cover of darkness so their irresponsibility goes unchecked? Where I live you would never see dog mess on the sidewalk because if someone saw you you would hung, drawn and quartered OR another (responsible) dog owner would pick it up (with one of the many bags they always have on their person) on the grounds that it's just those sort of people that give dog owners a bad name.

Silverthorns · 08/03/2012 17:09

Grin at catdoctor

I always feel incredibly grateful to people I see picking it up, when really, they're just doing what they should be doing. The council seem to have started spraying little yellow paintings of dogs having a crap onto the pavement as a deterrent but can't see them being remotely effective. Hmm

Someone has let their dog shit on my driveway today and not cleaned it up. I have no idea what is wrong with such a person.

CruCru · 08/03/2012 20:08

I feel really sorry for dogs when the owners don't clean up. It makes people hate dogs.

flapperghasted · 08/03/2012 20:09

I worry when my dog pees, cos she stoops, and it looks like she's pooing. If she poos, I ALWAYS pick it up. Even when I fractured my wrist and only had one hand, I gripped her lead between my knees and stooped down to get it up.

I despair when I see poo on the roadside. I sometimes feel tempted to pick up other dogs poo, but that feels slightly wrong. Bloody irresponsible dog owners should have their dogs taken away from them. If you can't pick up the poo, you're not capable of taking care of your dog. End of story!

MsF1t · 08/03/2012 20:21

Drives me wild, too- and I have a large dog. I picked up after her right til I was too pregnant to walk her (about full term).

I read a ridiculous post on one of these threads a couple of weeks back: someone who owned a dog said she felt it wasn't practical in some way to pick up after her dog. I think she said something along the lines of 'Walking around with 6 bags of dog poo is not really a good look, now is it?'. Wish I'd said something at the time, but missed my chance for a good froth. Sigh.

I have actually called people on it a couple of times at our local walking spot. One lady the other day, for example: desperately trying to pretend she was so engrossed in conversation that she hadn't noticed her wee treasure Fifi straining away in her wake, so I drew her attention to it, saying 'Ooh, mine's a terrible one for waiting until I'm not looking, too!'. I offered her a poo bag with a nice friendly smile. You should have seen the colour her face went...

Silverthorns · 09/03/2012 10:09

Good to see so many decent responsible dog owners on this thread. Wish you all lived here.
