to think that the health risks associated with rapid weight loss arent publicised enough.

I first went to Slimming World in 2002.
I lost ten stone in the end. I lost a stone a month for the first seven months.
I started SW in the February of that year.
In early July i was taken to hospital with a suspected heart attack.
It was gallstones.
I was in and out of hospital for the next nine months with constant attacks.
I was prescribed strong drugs like tramodol which didnt even touch the pain.
In the end whenever i had an attack the doctor had to come out and give me a morphine injection.
On Christmas Eve the doc came out and gave me an injection and the next day i couldnt stand up. My legs kept giving way and i passed out three times. I spent Christmas Day 2002 in hospital. When the doc came out i was in so much pain and begging for morphine because of it that he may have mistook me for a drug addict and slightly overdosed me.
I am back at slimming class again now and am still appalled that there seems to be pressure to lose weight fast. You also see the same byline in loads of magazines.
I did find a website at the weekend where a doctor said that you should lose no more than 3.3lbs a week if you want to avoid developing gallstones due to rapid weight loss.

Hi again The reason im back at SW now is because i comfort ate a bit after a long term affair ended (ive been in a sexless marriage for 16 years and even losing ten stone didnt make him want me though thats not the reason i did it)DH also became disabled six years ago which was another major shock and lifestyle change. This is the short version. Ive slowly gained five stone back so thought id better do something now. At least i didnt gain back the whole ten stone though.
Agree with you about the Biggest Loser. I dont watch it but my mum does. That programme is fucking dangerous and should be taken off the air.

I watched Biggest Loser in shock. It's completely irresponsible.

What i would like to know is if any of the Biggest Loser contestants develop gallstones is the show going to pay for these people to go private or is the NHS going to be picking up the tab for this programmes complete irresponsibility.
Also the waiting for NHS ops like this are longer now so these people could be sitting around in pain for 2 years or more.
I think if this show is going to be so damned irresponsible they should be paying privately for their contestants to have gallbladder removals if needed.
Its called after care.

I agree that Biggest Loser is totally irresponsible. I also don't see how being chased around constantly and told what to eat is going to help people learn how to sustain an active lifestyle, healthy diet and weight loss long term...I do quite like "I used to be fat" on MTV though Blush, the trainers seem more compassionate and realistic and the participants appear to take the responsibility themselves to make good food/exercise choices.
