It is not a badge of honour to be mentioned in favourite mumsnetter threads

There are periodically threads inviting people to name their favourite mums netters. This is invariably followed by a thread for nobdies (nobodys) who never get mentioned on these threads.

But I really don't think it is a good thing to be mentioned in these threads. All it means is that you spend far too much time on here. And this is not jealousy - I ahve for the first time been mentioned on the latest thread - and I know it is because I am spending far too much time here.

IMO to be mentioned you have to:

1. Spend a LOT of time here. I used to think I did, but relatively I didn't - I do now.
2. Post a LOT. One or two witty or insightful posts a day just doesn't cut it. Think a minimum of 20 posts a day and preferably in AIBU or chat.
3. Not piss of TOO many people.

And thats it! It really isn't a badge of honour. You may regularly post witty or insightful posts, but unless you are posting lots and lots, you won't get noticed enough in what after all is avery large amount of mums netters.

oh are there these threads for mnetters. Goodness. Fucking goodness. Who cares.

I recognise all the prolific posters, even the ones who say they never get mentioned. I nc a lot and lurk more than I post.

I think this is even sadder than the ones who post lots. At least they're getting involved and contributing, I spend as much time here but nobody will ever give me a badge.

Yes you are right shutupanddrive It was supposed to be saying to all those who say - I never get mentioned - well don't worry, it just means you don't spend as much time and post as much as those who do get mentioned. It doesn't mean your posts aren't witty and insightful.

I remember reading a post from lequeen one time that explained how she managed to post so much here. Instead of sitting around in her pjs on the sofa and posting from there as you might imagine - and as I am sure many of us do - it had her going to many activities such as:

1. watching gymnastics practice of dd1 - post on phone on mns
2. take dd2 to ballet and wait - post on phone

etc, throughout the day.

Now she does all that and two jobs, lesley

I was saying that for every one 'famous' mnnetter there is probably hundreds who spend equal amounts of time on here.

are* probably hundreds I should say.

I think there are hundreds or more who spend lots of time here. But honestly you have to post loads for a while to get noticed.
