Cardinal Sins of AIBU

Can someone possibly explain these? I am a bit in fear of being roasted for inadvertently committing some heinous drip-feeding crime or similar.

Thanking you kindly, x.

I hate it when people ask 'AIBU to be a bit upset about...' or 'AIBU to be a little miffed about...' or similar. Being a bit upset is rarely unreasonable and you just know that actually they are fuming about whatever it is, or else they wouldn't have bothered posting.

OriginalJamie · 01/03/2012 17:22

Jut think before you start the thread:

"How robust am I feeling?" If you are feeling sensitive, or emotional don't post. If you post and people then criticise you or disagree with you, don't swear at them

My advice - don't post on AIBU unless you can handle hearing YABU.

If you have had food for thought, say so

OriginalJamie · 01/03/2012 17:24

If you are replying to an AIBU, bear in mind that the person may be feeling a bit emotional. Given that you, the replier, are probably not feeling a bit emotional, try and have a bit of a heart and don't FFS them straight away

Trills · 01/03/2012 17:25

This might help

OriginalJamie · 01/03/2012 17:25

Remember there are other bits of MN that may serve you better and treat you nicer

QueenSconetta · 01/03/2012 17:28

trills is it wrong that all I could really see was Terry Wigan's boaby?

OP posts:
OriginalJamie · 01/03/2012 17:31

boaby

That's a new one on me. New words for pork swords are always welcome in AIBU

DublinMammy · 01/03/2012 17:48

Any links to the DM without warning.

Otherwise I don't really mind, they are all quite entertaining.

OriginalJamie · 01/03/2012 18:07

I'd like to ban the Hmm sign, except when applying it to oneself. Makes my blood boil

OriginalJamie · 01/03/2012 18:08

Ooooh

THINKING WE ARE MIND-READERS, WE ARE NOT. We only know what you tell us

Shouting

QueenSconetta · 01/03/2012 18:10

Walloper

OP posts:
BleurghUna · 01/03/2012 20:17

People posting that a subject is done to death - usually people who spend too much time on here!! If you think it's overdone, stay off the thread, find a thread you are interested in and get out more

Trills · 01/03/2012 22:21

Is walloper something you'd like to ban or a word for penis?

QueenSconetta · 02/03/2012 07:07

Pronounced Wah-lopper is a word for penis, lol.

OP posts:
HintofBream · 02/03/2012 07:28

Posts which start 'So, OK, Bit of Background, Sorry Long Story' or any combination of those.

YouOldSlag · 03/03/2012 19:08

I don't mind that HintofBream. It allows me to make a choice about whether to skim it or dive in.

shebird · 03/03/2012 21:31

Avoid any posts moaning about your life.

They will inevitably be followed by MNers trying to outdo you with tales of woe and lots of 'you think you have it hard......'.

Proudnscary · 03/03/2012 21:43

Passive aggressive smilies

Hugely defensive, overly-justifying opening posts with 8 billion disclaimers in desperate attempt to cover up every possible unreasonable element

LeBof - I quite like reverse AIBUs. It's like unraveling a murder mystery.

wildfig · 03/03/2012 21:50

ignoring pages and pages of reasoned YABUs, and then as soon as one person
sympathises with the OP, leaping out of nowhere to say ' thank you hunnimummi, it's good to know that someone understands!' with an audible sniff towards the viper chorus.
