Can someone possibly explain these? I am a bit in fear of being roasted for inadvertently committing some heinous drip-feeding crime or similar.

Thanking you kindly, x.

Mrsjay · 01/03/2012 10:09

My personal bugbear are the ones that go "AIBU to be shocked / upset / scared by this story - followed by a link to the DM."

Its the fucking DM. Its written to shock, upset and scare you.

Mrsjay · 01/03/2012 10:27

I want to reply stop reading the Bloody DM then if it scares you cos it scares me Grin

PushyDad · 01/03/2012 10:34

If you are a guy then you are not allowed to tell a female OP that SIBU for dumping sh*t on her guy.

You are not supposed to hit the OP with the harsh truth as to why she had been dumped or why her 'friends' are avoiding her or the real reason why DC is having problems at school.

Imagine the question 'do I look fat in this dress?' multiplied to infinity i.e. the truth will get you seriously beaten up virtually :)

LeBOF · 01/03/2012 10:36

Using AIBU to whinge about perceived low-level sexism against men is deeply tedious. Men- you've got the rest of the interweb, go use it!

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 01/03/2012 10:38

I don't like stealth boasting. There was a thread on here a while back by someone questioning her baby's milk intake but then had to add that the baby "feeds herself with solids spectacularly". Or stealth boasts in the form of "AIBU to feel it's such a problem that my 3 year old has a reading age of a 30 year old?"

SinicalSanta · 01/03/2012 10:39

Wow thanks for setting us straight pushy dad.no truth here

SlightlyJaded · 01/03/2012 10:45

Oh yes to paragraphs, drip feeding and stealth boasting (my personal pet hate)

Also pointless shite:

OP: 'AIBU to ask what soup you last ate?'
Me: Yes YABU because nobody gives a fuck

georgethecat · 01/03/2012 11:12

Really whingey posts about 'my life is sooooo terrible' - no specific aibu, or request for practical help, just a moany emotional vomit into cyberspace.

Just find it really victim like and fishing for sympathy rather than I have problems with x,y & z - what do you suggest.

(I am usually a very sympathetic person & like to offer constructive ideas)

PushyDad · 01/03/2012 11:26

bettybat · 01/03/2012 11:30

Threads where the OP never, ever makes another appearance other than their initial post. Winds me up no end, it's so deeply unsatisfying. Really irritates me. What's the point?

Please, you don't have to agree with or like any of the replies, but at least engage with the conversation you started!

Trills · 01/03/2012 11:54

PushyDad - I applaud you on your apt choice of name.

mojitomania · 01/03/2012 12:03

Yeah bugger off pushydad Grin

OP, if I were you I wouldn't post at all Grin

QueenSconetta · 01/03/2012 12:07

Lol, seems safest mojiotomania

Anniegetyourgun · 01/03/2012 12:39

Ah no, QueenSconetta, your name is too cool not to post.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 01/03/2012 12:48

And no kisses at the end of posts.

tantrumsandballoons · 01/03/2012 12:55

The stealth boasting is terrible, when OP asks AIBU think my child is very bright as she has achieved all level 5s by year 3

Yes you are BU, this is not the right place, find the g&t thread.

M0naLisa · 01/03/2012 12:58

AIBU that this family live on benefits therefore have LOADS of money and im working and cant afford this?

The questions go:
MNERS: How do you know?
OP: I just do because my MILs bestfriends cousins daughters friend told me so...

GRRR!! Feck off!!

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 01/03/2012 13:01

LOL M0naLisa that sort of thing pisses me right off too!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 01/03/2012 14:32

The posters that irritate me are the ones that suggest to an OP that they should post elsewhere because AIBU isn't 'fit' to take anything seriously... and they they continue blethering on on the thread anyway, or just keep repeating that helpful and patronisng 'advice'.

If you don't like a thread being on AIBU, report it, don't be so arrogant as to assume that there's any kind of 'hierarchy' on MN.

QueenSconetta · 01/03/2012 17:03

Thank you anniegetyourgun, and I was about to change it as well!

staycool - I will try harder, x. Grin
