I am very organised when it comes to holidays. We are already booked for main family holiday 2013 but want a short break with the kids in sept/oct 2013.

Anyway was trawling through villa sites and found a lovely villa, emailed the owner to say that i thought the villa was beautiful and that i just wanted to make contact so i had an email record of the property i could get back to her with dates then.

Today she emailed me this.

Well get back to me with dates and then we can talk but don't talk to me about holidays 18 months down the line cus I ain't interested. Ok

So i replied shove your villa up your arse are you always so rude or are you just having a bad day?

Grr i wilk deffo not be renting that villa now

Bohica · 23/02/2012 23:05

You are all wicked.

MiladyGardenia · 23/02/2012 23:08

I'm not wicked.

I am kind and caring and concerned.

Maybe a bit of a liar too

MiladyGardenia · 23/02/2012 23:09

Oh and YANBU. Deffo rude.

AlbertoFrog · 23/02/2012 23:12

How NOT to do business!

I just have to accuse you of a stealth boast (wealth boast?) though mosschops30. We've not booked up for this year yet and I daresay it'll end up being a caravan again.

Oh good point, LovesBeingWearingSkinnyJeans.

Yes, if only there were a way to let us know without putting it on the thread. Someone should do something about that.

HexagonalQueenOfTheSummer · 23/02/2012 23:47

TheCraicDealer · 24/02/2012 01:34

"So i replied are you always so rude or are you just having a bad day?"

Props for using the Mumsnet comeback!

mockingjay · 24/02/2012 03:02

Well that is SO rude that you almost have to wonder if one of the kids got into the email and sent it for a joke?! Surely no business owner would respond like that - easier for them to just not reply!

redskyatnight · 24/02/2012 09:14

Is it from a native English speaker? Some of the work emails we get from non-English speakers come over as very rude, I assume the humour/sense is lost in translation.

Yes, she was rude; but -
"emailed the owner to say that ... i just wanted to make contact so i had an email record of the property"
If you're as organised as you say you are, couldn't you just have bookmarked it as a record? Had I received such an email, I'd have read it with a Hmm face. Would you walk into a shop and say "I want to buy, but not now" and then walk out?

ViviPru · 24/02/2012 10:16

No, but as a business owner, I would welcome any enquiry giving positive feedback and the chance to add a potential customer's contact details to my database along with an idea as to when they'd be likely to require my product/service.

I agree though, emailing in that manner is a somewhat unorthodox way of organising oneself.

MissBerta · 24/02/2012 10:21

In this climate, ANY interest in one's 'product' should be welcomed as an opprtunity to promote it. Surely that owner must have known there wouldn't be a cat in Hell's chance of any further enquiries with that response.

If you have something you want to sell, you grab any tiny bit of interest, develop that and hopefully you'll get a sale. She was obvs thick as mince not to get that idea.

ViviPru · 24/02/2012 10:22

We should go into business together, MissB Wink
