Think there are a lot of judgemental people posting on MN

I am fairly new to mumsnet and although i have seen some good advice given to people who have posted on here, i have to say i have been astounded by the judgemental and sometimes aggressive posts i've seen. Some people seem to 'give advice' very often on a number of subjects but they always seem to end up as sarcastic or nasty. This is obviously a personal opinion and i'm sure i will get flamed for it. On the whole there seems to be some great people here with just a few odd confrontational ones.

AIBU to think that the AIBU forum is purpose built for people to say YABU or YANBU therefore givning their judgement?

There are 'naice' posters, there are deeply lovely ones, there are judgey ones, very funny, witty ones, a couple of cunts, and lots of other variations of 'person' on here. If that changes, I'm off.

The mix of people is precisely WHY I come here. I'd spend more time on chat if this place didn't capture my interest but I just have to stay here and see what people think constitutes unreasonable.

I like it here.

By the way, you are not wrong Claire1Lou but YABU for posting a thread that is bascally say AIBU for stating the obvious that AIBU is full of people who ABU and who ANBU.

Everyone judges all the time. We all make judgements about others throughout the day, it's survival. Sneering is a different matter all together.

I had a cough for an entire term in my second year of uni - I ended up with good stomach muscles from all the coughing.

ForeverProcrastinating · 23/02/2012 11:42

I'm a newbie too, OP, but I agree with a majority of other posters here. If you want to pick an argument, you'll find one sooner or later, depending on the subject. If you want help, advice or just a listening ear, there's plenty of that too, and it is fantastic. As my granny used to say, if you don't like what's on the tele, you know where the off switch is Grin. I would like to say thank you though, some of you laydees {and gentlemen) are so witty, erudite, knowledgeable and downright kind you have gone a long way to making me a little less cynical. Oh, one more thing, do read a bit about trolls and troll hunting, I found it useful.

My DSis ate half a quiche last week that was 4 days out of date as she wanted the squits as she had a party on the Saturday and her dress was a bit tight Hmm

Pinot, that's shocking Shock

Anniegetyourgun · 23/02/2012 11:46

Mm, I suppose NOT eating quiche never occurred to her as an effective way of losing a pound or so?

Ticklemonster2 · 23/02/2012 11:48

I know what you mean. I have had some good, fair advice on here from lovely posters, but don't post often. Sadly, like other forums it attracts negative bitching.
Personally, I see no use or function in bitching at people, but I'm afraid others seem to enjoy it and they congregate on here.
I don't bother reading nasty posts and just put it down to posters being immature or hormonal.....just ignore them, they have nothing better to do.

Pinot · 23/02/2012 11:49

LeQ make sure you're drinking lots lovey.

fly - I know. She knows she has epic food issues, she used to be huge and slimmed right down after her divorce. I'd like to talk more about it tbh as it worries me but don't want to derail the thread.

Pinot · 23/02/2012 11:50

x-post Annie. I know, it's v complicated though.

flywiththecrows · 23/02/2012 11:52

why not Pinot? show OP just how nice and supportive MN actually is.

no pressure like.

you do know that when/if you start a thread, people are here to listen and advise :)
