to report this person (again) for Benefit Fraud?

RagamuffinAndFidget · 22/02/2012 20:36

A woman who lives near me has been falsely claiming benefits for almost two years. Her partner works full time and earns a lot of money, they have two children, and they most definitely live together. She claims Income Support, Child Tax Credits, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. I know all this because she recently (proudly!!) announced that she had been investigated for Benefit Fraud but 'got away with it'.

Given that I know she's still falsely claiming benefits, and has been doing so for a long time, would I BU to report her to whoever it is one reports these things to?

NigellasDealer · 11/07/2014 09:07

well that is patently a load of bollocks.
get a life,

LuisSuarezTeeth · 11/07/2014 09:26

Resurrection to promote goading. How lazy.

Goady fuckers can't even be bothered to start their own threads now can they wowsomepeople ?

adsy · 11/07/2014 09:50

Btw, you do know that the government's own figures show false claims are outweighed many times over by the amount of benefits that are not claimed at all,
and that makes it OK to steal does it?
Never ceases to amaze me how many people on MN have a very scutty attitude that it's fine to commit fraud.
This money comes from US. So it is OUR business.

Perfectlypurple · 11/07/2014 10:21

I thought we had a zombie thread alert thing at the top of old threads.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 11/07/2014 11:28

deakymom · 11/07/2014 12:03

look, because she is being so blatant about it i would ring up speak to a human being and explain everything about her saying she "got away with it" etc etc as far as i remember in some areas they just rubber stamp benefit fraud investigations

Damnit I got all excited when I saw the thread - I stopped feeding Greggs sausage rolls to my goat to read it and everything!

I have been a fraud investigator for over two decades and can assure you all that it is entirely possible that this woman has been defrauding and has got away with it as in the last 5yrs local authority fraud teams have been decimated. living together cases require a huge resource not just desk based intelligence gathering. One London authority was down to 2 investigators from 16 and they simply picked the least resource intensive cases and didn't persue the rest...YADNBU refer again but this time on the DWP fraud line, they are much better resourced. if she is innocent nothing will happen. My last case, the thrift had a couple of million - that's tax paid by all the arses who think it's appropriate to give you a hard time OP.

Sassyb0703 · 11/07/2014 13:27

thrift ! theif

Roussette · 11/07/2014 13:32

Curious as to what your reaction was to her claim that she'd got away with it. I would openly say... is that something to be proud of? No. You are stealing. I couldn't help but make my feelings clear.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 11/07/2014 17:59

I think it might be a bit late now tbh.

I agree with you, by the way, I just wanted to make sure you knew not to expect a reply from the OP :)

Berryglitter · 11/07/2014 21:58

Op, you really need to get a hobby. She likes winding you up, she's been investigated before with nothing coming from it and you clearly feel the need to keep popping your beak in.

Unclench, it's been dealt with, she's yanking your very tight chain. Go knit/stamp collect/run or something. Yabu.
