Brit offensive: Adelle V James Cordon

changeneeded · 22/02/2012 12:11

For those who watched the brits....AIBU to find james cordons comment about Riannah "having the painters in" far more offensive than Adelle flicking the finger.

And not a mention of thios anywhere, yet Adelles finger flicking seems to be topic of debate. Is it yet another example of the ever acceptable sexist view point going un challeneged.

gorgeous

pictish · 22/02/2012 14:22

And a lot younger there.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 22/02/2012 14:25

I didn't watch any of it because I cannot stand James Cordon. I also just wanted to get that out there Grin

It was rude to do that to her when she had just won what is apparently the biggest award of the night. Far ruder than the gesture she made in return.

pictish · 22/02/2012 14:27

Dh hates James Cordon. Always has. Begs to switch over if he comes on.
I didn't used to mind him, but have concluded overall, that he is a pillock.

bibbitybobbityhat · 22/02/2012 14:29

I am not particularly a fan of James Corden but saw him in his west end play One Man Two Guvnors recently and he gave an amazing performance, on stage the whole time, full of energy in a very physical role (have you noticed he's lost 5 stone?) which requires an awful lot of interaction with members of the audience and he somehow got them doing the most extraordinary things on stage. Like him or loathe him he definitely has "it".

bibbitybobbityhat · 22/02/2012 14:29

The Adele thing was an absolute fiasco, agreed. People should lose their jobs for that!

MySweetPrince · 22/02/2012 14:53

Damon had me wincing a bit as he stuggled to hit the right notes.........Alex James is still a bit of all right tho Wink

WannaBeWildCosMyLifesSoTame · 22/02/2012 14:58

Oh God what have I confessed to?! That would be a massive BluR fan, not Blue! And Damon, I still would even if you are a bit of a knob (but that was always the case).

EauDeLaPoisson · 22/02/2012 15:01

My ex was the spit of Damon but now he's a skinhead and has spoiled it all Sad

Clytaemnestra · 22/02/2012 15:06

I'm actually really irritated with all the usual twitter celebrities banging on about how disrespectful it was to cut off Adele because "Who cares about the 10 o clock news, it could have waited"

10 o clock news led with the massacre in Syria. Adele wins an award for a nice song vs. father holding his mudered toddler, mayhem and devastation. Clearly I can see why that should have waited for Adele to churn out a bunch of platitudes about how happy she is.

aldiwhore · 22/02/2012 15:16

PHEW wannabewild you had me worried there... not many would admit to loving Duncan from Blue... Damon from Blur is perfectly okay. Grin

I'm glad Ed Sheeran won some, I'm glad he's now making big money, he earned his stripes and I like him. His route in seems old school now though doesn't it?

Cly it wasn't about over running with the News... its was about getting 3 blur songs in before the News. They wanted Parklife to be shown... they should have done it first and dropped another, OR a decent director should have cut Damon off when he over ran HIS speech earlier by about 45 minutes! (it seemed that long!)

Clytaemnestra · 22/02/2012 15:21

I know, but that's not what the slebs had a problem with:

Scooped from an article about the twitter response:

Philip Schofield: ?Thanks guys, love you, but can Adele come back and finish her speech now. Really!!! I'm sure tonight it could have been News at 5 past 10 #nevercutoffAdele?

Mollie King: ?Soooo what did everyone think of the Brits?? Anyone else want to hear what @Adele had to say?? 10 o'clock news??...10 o'clock snooze!!!?

Gabby Logan: ?The ITN news had better start with Adele's speech.?

Totally agree they could and should have cut into Blur, but its the attitude that Adele doing her second round of platitudes of the night is more important than the news, which is pretty bleak at the moment, that wound me up.

aldiwhore · 22/02/2012 15:23

Well that's schlebs for you! YANBU at all (even though you didn't ask)

CaoNiMa · 22/02/2012 15:52

Celebrities tweeting has been the death knell for any kind of mystique surrounding them. By and large, they come across as utter imbeciles.

SquidgyBiscuits · 22/02/2012 16:47

I don't get it.

Blur won an outstanding achievement type thing. Adele won a prize for a good record. Not exactly comparable.

Neither, however, are big enough or important enough to take priority over the world news.

sharenicely · 22/02/2012 17:09

Blur gave a long and boring speech and then had a long and boring performance.
Adele should have been given some of their time.
Slurry George Michael should have been cut off aswell, he took up loads of time.
I just didn't get the whole Blur thing, they were shite.

MissBerta · 22/02/2012 17:23

Adele is tedious, JC is tedious, the whole thing a tedious marketing exercise sadly lacking any Jarvis or Chumbawumba moments. But it's ITV, what do I expect, surprised it's not the Simon Cowell Brits by now.

NunOnTheRun · 22/02/2012 18:52

Mandy2003 ^Bring back Mick Fleetwood and Samantha Fox as presenters grin
In all it's glorious stonedness...Original recording from someone's home video!^

Oh thank you for that! Grin
I've enjoyed watching it back. Even though so far they've managed to lose Julian Lennon and Fairground Attraction (and introduced Boy George as The Four Tops) the show's still more amusing than more efficient recent efforts..

old fogey emoticon

MissBerta · 22/02/2012 18:55

Oh they were just great!

Those were the best years, The Eurythmics used to sweep the board.

torchpaper · 22/02/2012 19:25

I agree with whoever it was above who said she wasted so much bloody time huffing and puffing and dithering. It was boring.

TiggyD · 22/02/2012 21:14

I know Adele herself said to Kylie that she felt like a drag queen next to her, but a) not all drag queens and transsexuals, b) not all transsexuals are drag queens, and c) how fcking offensive to the trans community!*
I just checked with the trans 'community' and they all agree that Blur were shit.

theinets · 22/02/2012 21:55

Celebs are crap , the poster who said twitter just makes them look like knobs is dead right.

theinets · 22/02/2012 21:57

Also , Blur are being hyped at the mo as they are playing the Olympic Closing Ceremony celebration in Hyde Park, i believe, so it's all laying the groundwork for that ( i say as a fan)

cantgetlaidingermany · 23/02/2012 14:29

Ergh, can't stand James Cordon.....don't get the fuss about him.
