Brit offensive: Adelle V James Cordon

changeneeded · 22/02/2012 12:11

For those who watched the brits....AIBU to find james cordons comment about Riannah "having the painters in" far more offensive than Adelle flicking the finger.

And not a mention of thios anywhere, yet Adelles finger flicking seems to be topic of debate. Is it yet another example of the ever acceptable sexist view point going un challeneged.

Grin cornsilk. I love Jean-Luc.

Neither joke really offended me but fwiw James Corden is not funny and I can't understand his appeal.

IUseTooMuchKitchenRoll · 22/02/2012 12:57

I like James Corden.

I can't see why everyone is making such a fuss about Adele being cut off, maybe if she hadn't stood there huffing and puffing for ages before she started speaking she would have had time to say what she wanted to. I thought she handled it well when James told her he had to cut her off, if she made a gesture then she was being out of order. She was given time to accept her award, she should have made better use of it.

These people are in the entertainment industry ffs, you would think they could all understand time constraints that telly puts on them.

cornsilkteamdixon · 22/02/2012 12:59

Me too mama. I love a man in Lycra. Jc would never rock the star trek look.

VonHerrBurton · 22/02/2012 13:02

He (jC) just makes my teeth itch every time I see him. Can't understand why anyone would find him funny and or entertaining.

He's a big-headed arrogant twat. One day he will upset the wrong person and he will fade into insignificance....

And breathe.

upahill · 22/02/2012 13:03

So the most controversial thing about the Brits this year is that Adele got cut off and gave the finger.

Rock n bloody corporate Roll eh?

We need Mick Fleetwood and Sam Fox back. or can we get the KLF to reform, what about Jarvis invading the stage.

The Brits were ok but no real fun was had for the viewer.

theodorakis · 22/02/2012 13:08

I think I got the wrong end of the stick. I thought Cordon made the painters comment about Adele because she was so angry. I did think maybe that was a bit sexist. Adele just looked a twat in my opinion, she just isn't that important.

pictish · 22/02/2012 13:12

And Blur are?

"Get out of the way little fat nobody singer, and make way for the big important Blur!"

Is that it?

Fuck that!

theodorakis · 22/02/2012 13:14

No Blur were shit too. Her speech was crap, it was time to hurry her up.

2 fingers

Solo · 22/02/2012 13:32

He was rude to Jean Luc?! Shock what a git!!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 22/02/2012 13:42

The only thing offensive about the Brits was how fucking boring it was.

Where was all the banter? The rivalries?

Sorely disappointed that Wand Erection and The Wanted didnt get into an onstage brawl, probably scared of muckying up their outfits.

And where was Noel's stage invasion when Blur was playing? Damn you Noel you've gone and grown up. bet Liam would of done it

changeneeded · 22/02/2012 13:43

I suppose it was more the objectification from him, ie, the only reason she wouldnt turn him down is becuase she was on her period, ie the painters in conection to her performance rather than the catual term having the painters in that I tought was pffensive.

I missed the tranny comment though.

OP posts:
changeneeded · 22/02/2012 13:44

typos, must proof read.

upahill · 22/02/2012 13:51

Hear Hear Amazing!!

Everything just seemed bland. The music is bland, the bands , the banter everything. There was just no spark.

It never occured to be to be offended/ find offensive the painter remark/ the tranny remark. It just sounded like something unfunny to say.

WannaBeWildCosMyLifesSoTame · 22/02/2012 13:59

Totally agree Ferret - it was so dull! James Cordon was wooden and boring and Adele is a bit full of herself but flicking the finger is not really that rock n roll. Basically it was the same arse kissing luvvie fest it always is.

Particular lowpoints for me were:

  • Jo Whiley namechecking Kylie to show how in with the stars she is
  • The woman who won the Critics Choice award not even getting 30 seconds on camera because they were interviewing last year's winner (Jessie J, who I think is cool) - what's that all about?
  • Coldplay winning or performing anything
  • Damon's boring speech and attempt to sing and dance like he did 20 years ago, it was like watching your Dad at a party, really cringey and I am a huge Blue fan
  • Lana Del Ray's sickeningly American style acceptance speech (nice dress though)
  • any idiot presenting an award who came on and tried to interact with the crowd as though it was all about them. One of the few who just came on, did his job and didn't piss me off was Jenson Button

I did like Phil Daniels, Noel and Ed Sheeran though

theodorakis · 22/02/2012 14:01

pictish, I retract the 2 fingers (so to speak) sorry that was rude and uncalled for

pictish · 22/02/2012 14:01

Noel Gallagher is a miserable, pinchy faced, unpleasant wee scrote isn't he. Takes himself dead seriously as well.
He's like the new Paul Weller.

Mandy2003 · 22/02/2012 14:02

Bring back Mick Fleetwood and Samantha Fox as presenters Grin

In all it's glorious stonedness...

WannaBeWildCosMyLifesSoTame · 22/02/2012 14:03

He would love being called that Pictish!

NigellasGuest · 22/02/2012 14:04

James Cordon is about to speak to Richard Bacon on 5Live if anyone;s interested.

Oh, and I LOVE DAMON FOREVER

aldiwhore · 22/02/2012 14:07

Wannabe, you're a huge BLUR fan aren't you? Please say. Not a huge BLUE fan!!

Please please tell me it was a typo.

(Damon's voice - ouch. The band were pretty tight though, credit where its due)

pictish · 22/02/2012 14:11

I like Blur. Not to epic proportions or anything...but love Daman too - yay! Gorillaz are excellent.

However - no one is above manners. Adele won quite a prestigious award. It is polite to allow some spraffage....not "yeah sorry luv - Blur are on"
pmsl!

NormanTebbit · 22/02/2012 14:13

It was the most corporate Brits I have ever seen. I reckon The Olympics will be the same. Just a load of suits.

Was concerned Damon would put his hip out at one point. He's still lovely though isn't he!

The acceptance speeches amounted 'thanks for all the money, guys, thanks to record company for allowing g me to make them money and thanks for this award which hopefully let me make even more money"

pictish · 22/02/2012 14:18

I did't watch it. Not a fan of commercial awards ceremonies, all bluster and self congratulation.

I just watched the clip of Adele getting the "button it, Blur's up" routine.
I'm not even an Adele fan, but how rude!
