Am I being mean to the cat...

(This is a little tounge in cheek)

I work from home a lot and my office has a window onto the garden. My Dcat has a perfectly functional catflap that comes from the garden, into the kitchen. She is currently sitting on the windowsill of the office, yelling to come in. I am messing about on MN working hard and if she comes in through the window she will trample the computer and demand cuddles.

AIBU to ignore her and make her use the catflap? I say no, DH who is far too soft for his own good says yes...

Hello bettybat, another staff to a very entitled and extremely loud Bombay here!
Too cute for words, loves nothing better than to sleep cuddled in bed with a human head on pillow, whiskers in face!
High maintenance cat!

Hillyhilly - Bombay's, are they the jet black little ones? I've always liked them. I have a moggy black cat... He's massive... He's barmey and I don't think he's ever going to get out of his mad kitten stage (he's 3) Envy

CaveMum · 18/02/2012 08:33

We have a black and white moggy. She's fine using the cat flap, thank goodness, but the sleeping arrangements leave a little to be desired!

She likes to sleep on my legs. Once I'm in bed, she'll jump up and lie down the length of my legs. During the night I'll get too hot, or uncomfortable, and decide to move. However, I can't possibly disturb Her Highness, so I slowly part my legs scissor-style, so that she slides into the gap. I'm the. Free to turn onto my side, maintaining 1 leg on either side of her Hmm

DH says I overindulge her, but it's alright for him: he's such a fidget in his sleep that she won't sleep anywhere near him Grin

I love this!

My baby cat also dictates us. I do everything she asks & wouldnt want it any other way :)

But putting a warm wheat bag, in her bed on a cold night was probably a bit much.

She loved it though & snuggled to sleep with it, aaahh.

Ohhhh what a lovely thread!

Mine are now 10 months but I still call them kittens. They rule the house, absolutely and completely. I even leave the heating on for them when I'm out Blush

CaveMum · 18/02/2012 11:54

10 months [faints]

Bloody hell, where did the time go?????

Pinot · 18/02/2012 11:56

LadyBeagleEyes · 18/02/2012 12:11

Your original kitten thread is my favourite mumsnet thread ever Pinot.

Daisyrain - I actually ended up buying specific microwave pet heat pads that last 12 hours because my older girl has arthritis. She doesn't need it, because she sleeps on my bed, but I wouldn't want her toes to get cold...

And don't mention the 2 feral barn cats that lasted 2 days in our sheds before they were moved into the house...

Or the "ONLY" item that we bought at the Royal Welsh Show last year for one of the cats who likes to sleep in the garden Here - DH carried it around the show grounds most of the afternoon!!

And we don't mention the fact that DH and I have been known to light the wood stove just in case the cats get cold or the fact that they're allowed to drink the milk at the bottom of our cereal bowls when we've finished...

We even went out and bought a new Ikea rocking chair because our 16 year old boy cat with a massive sense of entitlement claimed the other one Blush

Yep, I would guess the cats are spoilt.

I'm 30+6 weeks pg and DH thinks it'll be hilarious for the babys first word to be "Meow"!
