Normal English style stodgers.

Taste like a disc of glue and so you shove loads of BadForYous on to the top to give it some ooomph.

Why the actual jif do we bother?

Could have an eclair instead.

OMG

worzelswife Is that a real recipe???? For the love of God woman, LINK IT!!!!

mamij · 11/02/2012 17:03

Pancakes. One word. Yuuuuuuuuuuuummmm! Love all toppings, fresh fruit, Nutella, golden syrup, but nothing beats the traditional lemon and sugar. Drooling....!

worzelswife · 11/02/2012 17:11

That wasn't very kind of me was it Becarooo?

I do apologise

here

Like I said, I'm a lazy cah, and so I smeared nutella in it rather than faffing around melting chocolate. I stuck strawberries on top and flowers round the side. It was so pretty. sigh

Charlotteperkins · 11/02/2012 17:12

Maple syrup and bacon, mmmm

FredFredGeorge · 11/02/2012 18:47

Surely the more important question is how you eat them?

Do you put your toppings on the entire stack, chop them with knife and fork into a mess and then eat with just a fork. Or do you carefully handcraft each individual one into a nice rolled up tube you can then eat daintily.

fortifiedwithtea · 11/02/2012 18:58

Mouth watering. Yum. I want pancakes now. Sugar and lemon rolled up in neat tube and stuffed in gob asap.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 11/02/2012 19:00

I will not be swayed.

English pancakes are stodgefests covered in yummy stuff.

There's gotta be better vehicles for the toppings.

Go to the Netherlands - then you will eat a real pancake and will be sold. They are like pizzas, but with more toppings.

Disclaimer: I work in a Dutch pancake house. Grin

dementedma · 11/02/2012 19:04

YANBU they are vile. Too flubbery and soft and wibbly Yuk
don't mind the thicker drop scone type things but the thin ones you flip and put lemon on and roll up make me want to boak.

lovechoc · 11/02/2012 19:15

YABU! Scotch pancakes are the best :)

solvendie · 11/02/2012 19:43

YANBU - I hate them, too. Just glad I'm not the only one Smile

Selks · 11/02/2012 19:45

OMG pancakes! And I have a lemon lurking in the fruit bowl too......gasp! That's tomorrow's breakfast sorted. Oh yes.

imoanruby · 11/02/2012 20:14

YABU pancake are yum and M&S chocolate chip pancakes with chocolate sauce are fab!!

troisgarcons · 11/02/2012 20:19

I quite sad that pancakes have a religious signifiicance and have been hi-jacked by the "stuffing sugar laiden shit down your gob as fast as possbile" brigade.

sigh

Seona1973 · 11/02/2012 20:20

I dont like the english ones but am a bit partial to scotch pancakes with butter and jam

DamselInDisarray · 11/02/2012 20:23

We have American style pancakes with maple syrup, bacon and eggs every Sunday morning. Yum.

notcitrus · 11/02/2012 20:33

An English pancake should be beautiful, warm, soft, and like the texture of a lover's skin.
Only you get to put sweet things on it and eat it.
What's not to like?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 11/02/2012 20:54

I love Pancakes! Yum yum yum yum yum.

ThePopsicleKat · 11/02/2012 22:30

Is it pancake day soon?

BaronessBomburst · 11/02/2012 22:34

notcitrus Now I have the need to stroke a pancake to test that one out.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 11/02/2012 22:39

We than had pancakes three nights running, til it ran out! Grin

Chaos, YABVU!

MateyMooo · 11/02/2012 22:41

my dd would eat them every day if i let her. its the only way she will eat eggs, and since we have chickens... she gets pancakes A LOT!

TapirBackRider · 12/02/2012 04:12

Going to have to make scotch pancakes for breakfast now! (I add a couple of drops of almond extract to the batter, gives it a lovely flavour) Smile
