to think that most on here have tried class B or A drugs at some point in their lives?

I'm increasingly struggling with the wisdom of prohibiting drugs and this is increased by a suspicion that far more people have taken or take drugs than are ever willing to admit it. I am thus curious as to MNetters experiences.

Yes. Stacks and stacks and stacks of drugs. Class A, class B, and legalised. Not prescription. Don't do any now, and haven't for years. Bloody good fun, and it was easy to stop, I just decided not to do them any more.

AND I was doing them while holding down a really good job, and getting promotions, so feck you all, not a loser's game. The big thing was not doing them until I'd done exams, university, got the job and understanding that, whatever you did at the weekend, you had to be at the job on Monday.

danceswithyarn · 12/02/2012 21:59

nope.

Avenged · 12/02/2012 22:05

I do think cannabis and other similar drugs should be used medically as pain relief and to help with other conditions, but only if they've been prescribed by a health professional such as a GP.

aldiwhore · 12/02/2012 22:06

Skunk is actually awful because its been bred to have both high level of THC and low levels of the chemical that stops pyschosis.

Most of my DH's friends were around in the 60's, right in the middle of it, and they would not touch skunk, its the road to severe MH problems for more people than it would usually affect.

Mind you, saying that, some of my DH's friends are still suffering the affects of too much LSD.

Hmm Not sure of my point actually... lol (Great advert for legalisation I am... but I've always been daft)

Anniegetyourgun · 12/02/2012 22:07

Don't look at me, I've never even tried tobacco.

PacificDogwood · 12/02/2012 22:10

Nope. Never. Don't even drink much

VivaLaSativa · 12/02/2012 22:20

birdsgottafly Yes, some of us do know people that grow and deal.

I speak from experience and have smoked cannabis for a long time. I have tried hundreds of different strains.

Cannabis that is being "produced" is grown like all other plants are Grin.

TiaMariaandDietCoke · 12/02/2012 22:22

Nope. Not even cigarettes. Wine is enough for me, ta

Birdsgottafly · 12/02/2012 22:27

It is hybrid though. The average youth doesn't buy pure stuff in quanity to mix and manufacture for themselves, they buy what has been created to serve a purpose for that market.

WTAF???? Do you even know what you are talking about?

THC does not cause psychosis, THC is actually highly beneficial.

Many people actually suffer from deficiency because they aren't consuming cannabis at all. Bang goes your theory linky

With the exception of pethedine and entonox, I have never touched drugs. I've never even smoked a cigarette.

mummytime · 12/02/2012 22:48

Nope!
Unless you count the di-morphine after cs.
Never smoked either.

Bunbaker · 12/02/2012 22:52

Viva Why do you feel you have to smoke skunk every day? Do you think you have a problem with it?

The only drug I indulge in is alcohol, but I don't drink every day and never to excess.

VivaLaSativa · 12/02/2012 23:04

I am a medicinal user bunbaker That doesn't mean I stubbed my toe and need a cheeky excuseWink.

If I were taking the medicines my Dr recommended, my health would be much worse. I would have serious problems with side effects and potential addiction, wouldn't be able to drive ect.

I only smoke cannabis, It isn't dangerous. It was used for over five thousand years before a few crazy individuals set about global prohibition.

It is a crime against humanity to deny people the right to a plant that has so much medicinal benefit when the alternative is nasty toxic POMS that cause millions of deaths (even in people taking them correctly) every year.

Cannabis never killed anyone. Mental illnesses are caused by individuals circumstances ie life not plants. HTH.

Devora · 12/02/2012 23:17

I do actually have an ethical problem with people consuming drugs. It always surprises me how many people will boycott Nestle, Murdoch papers etc but support the international drugs trade with its shockingly evil impact.

GoingForGoalWeight · 13/02/2012 00:00

Weed, zero, cigarettes, that is it.

GoingForGoalWeight · 13/02/2012 00:00

When i was a teenager, not anymore!

Thesoupkitchen · 13/02/2012 00:03

Errr.. A yes from this corner. I would always tell my kids to stay off the chemical goods but a bit of green hurts no one. It's a plant.

tinkertitonk · 13/02/2012 00:14

Soupkitchen: where on earth do you think heroin and cocaine come from?

Using drugs is to take part in one of the nastiest and most violent trades on the planet.

VivaLaSativa · 13/02/2012 00:18

The drugs trade is only violent because of prohibition.
No one gets killed over a bag of UK grown skunk.

lesley33 · 13/02/2012 00:19

viva - I understand you taking it medicinally. But smoking anything is potentially harmful to lungs. Smoking weed can do physical harm and there is a link to an increased risk of MH problems. It is not a harmless drug.

Thesoupkitchen · 13/02/2012 00:25

Heroin and cocaine sold is British streets is more often than not cut and mixed and powered down several times, it contains god knows what. A plant my mates mate grew on his allotment (hypothetically speaking) is not half as harmful or unknown. Plus it was grown organically and with fair trade :)

Ample · 13/02/2012 00:28

Yes, in younger years.

I wouldn't say everyone has done.

I don't smoke though nor have never had a drinking session of any sort and I bet there won't be an epic wave of genuine No's for that!

VivaLaSativa · 13/02/2012 00:36

Cannabis is not harmful to lungs, smoking with tobacco is the only harmful factor. There isn't a link at all. Just hints and newspaper articles. For any link you find I can provide genuine studies refuting links with mental illness.
Its all bollocks.
