My DH is obsessed with anything Apple

The antidote

Oggy · 10/02/2012 20:42

A direct quote from my husband...

"I read a really good book about the periodic table the other day"

He said it to my Dad, who is a complete nerd academic type, but even he had a little snigger at hubby!

mrsjay · 10/02/2012 20:43

good now get the thread deleted and we will pretend we havnt spoken whatmeworry

LetUsPrey · 10/02/2012 20:46

DH is convinced the Scottish football team will not only qualify for various tournaments, but that they will do quite well. He doesn't think they'll win - he's not completely deluded.

He was reading his Celtic football annual that I bought for him in bed last night.

NorthernWreck · 10/02/2012 20:48

Ooh I like the train thingy! Never seen that before. I would love a go on it!

DumSpiroSpero · 10/02/2012 20:49

I've just watched the whole 14+ minutes of that YouTube clip. It's very relaxing.

dementedma · 10/02/2012 20:54

with mine it's computer football. pretend figures playing pretend football while he is the pretend manager. for hours. and hours.
One day i came home from work and he looked really sad, and when I asked what happened he said "I got sacked today.". I nearly passed out and then he added "On Football Manager, I mean". Stupid bastard computer person

There's a steam train version too apparently, and a London Underground one (although I can see how that might be pushing the boundaries of geekdom a bit)

Kewcumber · 10/02/2012 20:56

Oggy - my Dad once said out at a restaurant (obvious his best scintillating after dinner conversation) "The phone book can really be a very interesting read"

So sorry for your loss MrsCervix. No flowers but donations to the Railwaymans Benevolent fund?

DumSpiroSpero · 10/02/2012 20:57

Give me trains over football any day - sadly my DH is sport mad.

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 10/02/2012 21:00

bollocks to the benevolant ralwaypeople. i wan flowers. it's the least i can expect after putting up with this shame

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 10/02/2012 21:02

fucing sport too.

why do you think i spend so much time here? - because the late bastard is always watching crap onthe TV. if it's not fucking cricket, it's fucking nostalgic train shite. bastard may he rest in peace

OP posts:
Whatmeworry · 10/02/2012 21:04

Have you noticed how much cricket and nostalgic train shite is on the TV?

They are all around us....

NorthernWreck · 10/02/2012 21:07

It's not sad Cervix! You could do it with him! Go on simulated trips together. Romantic, like. You could make a packed lunch with hard boiled eggs for the "journey".

TheScarlettPimpernel · 10/02/2012 21:09

My DH favours World of Warcraft.

You know how it sounds all fighty and swordy?

Nah. He learned fly-fishing the other day. And has a special leather bag with Healing Herbs in it Hmm

Can't complain though. The other day he had enough silver coins for a trip to the salon, so I chose his goblin's haircut

pranma · 10/02/2012 21:09

Mine has an O gauge train set on a board in the spare room. At least yours is using a computer-mine has never sent an email!

hermionestranger · 10/02/2012 21:12

I'm here. Dh is a a saddo train geek enthusiast. I have two DS too. Ds1 also loves trains. Angry

Kewcumber · 10/02/2012 21:15

Ds has a OO gauge hornby train set which I quite like. Though to be fair he is six and I'm rather expecting him to grow out of it or it will have a mysterious fire when he's about 13

nutmegthespringerspaniel · 10/02/2012 22:37

My DH is obsessed with anything Apple...

Hes an Apple Tart

Lots of them about

blueemerald · 11/02/2012 00:06

OP, my youngest brother (21) has Asperger's Syndrome and one of his things is trains/model railway (it's all over the spare bedroom....) so you have found me the birthday present to end all birthday presents. Do that make it better? Hmm

MissMarjoribanks · 11/02/2012 00:24

Warhammer. Check.

Trains. Check.

Flight simulator. Check.

World of Warcraft. Check.

Dungeons and Dragons. Check.

Divorce papers. Can't be arsed as he does the washing up.

pookamoo · 11/02/2012 00:43

It's LEGO in our house... Hmm The DC aren't even old enough and there's that "rummage, rummage" noise going on... DH is soon to be 35, not 9! Grin

theincredibequeenofwands · 11/02/2012 08:51

My bloke is well into his Warhammer 40K.

We have a 'spare room' filled where he sits at a desk and models them (has a special 'Warhammer desk' and bookshelves crammed with the stuff. Our loft is filled with sealed boxes of figures which 'he doesn't need yet' and our shed is a haven of gaming tables and half finished bits of scenery.

He also reads the Warhammer novels. Have a bookcase filled with them behind me.

Him and his mates go out for a drink on a Friday night. They sit around a table in the pub and discuss Warhammer, the rules, new figures, etc. I used to go with him, now I stay home and do my nails.

I love him though, so what can you do? Grin

Whatmeworry · 11/02/2012 09:22

Now the kids do Warhammer too - at this rate the cat will start playing instead of just knocking the figures off the table.....
