To really not get the denim shorts over tights fad

Yes I am probably showing my age but all I see now is young girls wearing high waisted jeans cut like knickers over black tights , it is the most unflattering thing even on young lovely figures and don't get me started on the bums hanging out of the bottom of said shorts, I want to tell them to put some trousers on .

I have turned into my mum haven't I?

Also the fashion fir shaving half your head, why does anyone want to look like they have had brain surgery? And the years it will take to grow back!

as somebody else said it was around a few decaded ago i never got away with it though im a short arse my dds wear them sometimes but the shorts arent short shorts they wouldnt want bum cheeks hanging out

YABU. My teenager DD1 looks stunning in her shorts/tights combo. I don't remember this fashion first time round. I must have been too old to wear it then as well.

I think it not appealing to the older generations is kind of the point. I consider myself pretty trendy but my 12 yr old feels that if Dad and I hate it then it must be cool! I remember feeling the same as a teenager - dressing in a way hated by those older was the point for me and I have no grounds to be critical....I was a GOTH!!! (pretty much because it embarrassed my Mum)

I love mine too campari and will continue to wear mine as long as my legs will allow

Dd is only 16 months and has little denim shorts NOT short short ones obviously and wears them over red and purple wooly tights. She is v cute.

Like most fashions it looks fine if done right on the right person.
Shorts that are not too short or too tight can look really good. Much better than a Lycra band mini skirt

Skin tight summer hot pants over thick winter tights just look silly.
Shh! Don't tell DD2 I have some new short for her birthday (she's11) and her shorts over her leggings are getting just a bit tight

However, if the shorts are too short or tight it really doesn't look good.

yep another one here who did it in 1990, i was 17 at the time, i think i looked rather good.com

mind you at 39 my DS would cringe!!

YABU - if they have the figure then i think why not - it is a look i recall fondly (and i did it in a goth stylee with the black tshirts and DMs - i was never a brosette - right - ok??? )

Did it in the early 90s with DMs, also subscribe to the "can only do it once", but have embraced jumper dresses / leggings again so guess it's only a matter of time til I look like mutton

It's a look that's been around for several decades, in one guise or the other. I've only seen the short shorts, not bum cheeks falling out look. On the right person, with the right image, I think it looks nice. It's not somethin I've ever looked good in and I'm not going to start in my 40's.

I could imagine it being horribly done though.

I think it looks nice as long as the shorts aren't too short.

I've seen some young girls wear those tights that look like stockings with them, cue cat's bum mouth from boffy old me.

I didn't wear this look in the 90's, although I had the figure then! I can't do tights and trousers/shorts too uncomfy in the fanjo area for me!
