AIBU?

To sways be a little dubious when women claim they didn't know they were pregnant?

I'm talking women who give birth in their bathroom and claim they went through being pregnant for 9 months without having the foggiest.

I know some women don't get symptoms like sickness etc, I can believe women who maybe reach say 5 months or so. And I know some women don't get bumps, I've seen that myself, but come on...how can any woman not feel a 7lb baby moving around inside them? Or to think that when an elbow is poking out and wriggling around that it's just wind? Or when they shift from one side of your stomach to the other? Really just wind is it?

I remember when I was about 5 months pregnant with DS his dad complaining cos he couldn't sleep because of the vibrations coming off the bed from baby kicking. Bump wasn't even touching him and he could still feel it. Surely that kind of thing must happen to everyone whether u have a bump or not?

I know a load of you will give me your stories of ''it happened to my friend'' but i just really really struggle to really believe them.

Must admit Stranded, I thought, oh that couldn't happen to me, I am quite thin and a bump would be ver obvious - then I saw your pics.....

My mum who was a science teacher was 6 or 7 months before she found our she was pregnant with my brother her third. She smoked 40 a day until she found out! He turned out ok.

My friend had exactly the same thing as stranded, except for her, she had been drugged and raped (it had happened to a few girls at the time :( ).

Genuinely did not know she was pregnant. Gave birth, did not want it. Was with a new DP of only 4 months (very familiar Stranded) who convinced her to keep her son and he is the best dad in the world and she a great mum.

I did not believe, I do now.

Wow stranded what a great dinner party story!!
You look great in the photos and a great example of how you can actually carry full term with no knowledge!.

I have a friend whose story is very close to Stranded except hers includes 5 negative pregnancy tests from the doctor.

Went into the hospital thinking she had appendicitis, came home with a baby boy.

Well, I never believed it....until I read strandeds story. OMG.

And looking at those pictures of you partying at Uni I can totally believe you didn't really look pregnant and any weight gain could be put down to junk food / drinking too much. Bloody hell. Never knew about bleeding while on pill breaks even if you're PG.

Your mum sounds lovely. So nice to hear you've managed to stick at Uni.

I have IBS and have had flutterings that feel like baby kicking, somi can totally see how people can get the two mixed up!

Scared the shit out of me the first time I felt it when my baby was still v small and I though I was preggers again!!

Friend of mine (a nurse) got to 22wks not knowing, was still bf-ing so no periods, she doesn't show when pregnant and shes a size 6/8!!

Meglet, you don't always bleed on pill breaks when pregnant, obviously Stranded did but I guess it must depend on which pill.

Ahhh I've taught several girls who have given birth without any of us (or them!) noticing they were pregnant. I actually only fully believe one of the girls. I reckon the others did know but were doing that typical teenage thing of hoping that it would go away if they ignored it.

My favourite story though, is of a friend who was trying. She got to almost six months before deciding to go to the doctor because 'her periods seemed a little irregular'. To make it worse, her husband is a surgeon so really between them they should have noticed!

Stranded, I have not heard your story before. Just looked at your pictures, that is amazing. Your dd was about the same weight as mine and was born about the same time and I honestly looked and felt like a beached whale.

I knew a girl who gave birth at home when she was 15 (this was 20 years ago). She said she didn't know at the time but since has said she just blocked it out. I can't believe her mum didn't know though, she had a definite bump. She made acdantastic mum, went on to become a teacher and has two morechildren. I can't imagine how terrified she must have been.

Your mum sounds lovely stranded.
