To not understand why I can't buy my daughter underwear in Asda?

She's nearly 12, and does indeed need a bra, Asda have stopped selling them (so they informed me) because of the hoohaa about them at the end of last year.

I think girls should be girls, I really do and thongs for children are objectionable, as are leopard print bras or lots of other things.

But in what way is it useful for a child with enough breasts to warrant a bra to just not be able to buy one?

She feels physically and emotionally more comfortable wearing a bra...with one on she can carry on playing without being uncomfortable or feeling uncomfortable.

How is just getting rid of bras under a 32 back useful?

I'm fed up of the fact that bra's for older girls are never white. I got dd some from Primark eventually. But I remember some of the horrific bra's my mum bought me. Some off dd's classmates have developed quite fast and will probably be bigger than just a 28A

the M&S ones are.

"No one has objected to bras for pubescent girls"

Well actually a lot of people have objected, particularly to padded bras in small sizes and in the children's section, which have generated hysteria in the tabloids and amongst some posters on here. Disregarding the fact that some girls will prefer padded bras for comfort, to make differently-sized breasts look more symmetrical, or to prevent nipples from showing through their clothes.

brighthair · 05/02/2012 14:12

EddieVeddersfoxymop - have you seen the new Bravissimo Satine bra? It's fab, really comfy and a great plunge shape

pranma · 05/02/2012 14:51

being pc doesnt stop Asda telling everyone to be 'tickled pink' about breast cancer :(

CardyMow · 05/02/2012 14:59

Finding small-backed bra's is a nightmare at either end of the cup sizes. I'm trying to find plain white t-shirt bra's in a 30B for 13yo DD. Nada. I'malso looking for something more fashionable than what my Granny would wear in a 32G/H. Also Nada.

Piddling me off now!

IShallWearMidnight · 05/02/2012 15:04

Hunty - M&S Angel range are quite nice for those sizes, have had some v pretty ones from there before

IShallWearMidnight · 05/02/2012 15:05

to clarify, Angel for the 30B, not the 32G/H!

OnlyANinja · 05/02/2012 15:17

YAB a bit U to expect one particular shop to stock a particular item that is not its main thing.

If you couldn't buy potatoes in ASDA that might be a bit odd.

Your branch probably has other things that I can use the shelf space for that more people want, or that it can make more profit on. That's how retail works.

sodapops · 05/02/2012 15:44

Hunty New Look have white Tshirt bras in a 30B.

It seems Asda have missed the point about what people were complaining about, though.

CardyMow · 05/02/2012 17:20

My local New Look doesn't have them though.

cory · 05/02/2012 17:45

Ninja, the OPs complaint was not that Asda were not stocking smaller sized bras, but that she was informed by the shop that they had stopped stocking smaller sized bras in response to a moral campaign that suggested there is something wrong with young girls needing bras.

tabulahrasa · 06/02/2012 08:29

Oh if they'd said they no longer stocked them just because - then fair enough, they aren't obliged to sell everything.

I'm just moaning about the logic of it, surely removing any bras smaller than a 32 isn't what the point of the complaints were?

did you look for smaller bras ,? some women are under a 34 in a bra dont they sell them for women eitherConfused I get dds bras from BHS and marks and spencers but she prefers markies as the BHS ones come with underwire well most of them , M n S do nice 2 packs , dd has a few colours including her white ,

mrsjay · 06/02/2012 08:52

no you are right the point of the complaints were bras with age 7/8 on them not bras for teens i think asda are missing the pont ,

CelticPromise · 06/02/2012 09:02

hunty I'm a 32/34G and Bravissimo have plenty, I like Freya the best. Debenham's do a lot in a G cup but they don't fit me well.

Sevenfold · 06/02/2012 09:05

i think this just shows how silly the whole campaign was.

gamerwidow · 06/02/2012 09:06

Celtic they are lovely but so expensive and it is a pain not to be able to buy from the cheaper high street ranges if you have big boobs and a small back.

tabulahrasa · 06/02/2012 09:06

They didn't have any bras at all under a 32 back size - I'll admit I don't know if they did previously or not as they used to have a small section next to the other bras of quite clearly aimed at teenagers, non-underwires bras, which is where I had bought them for DD before. I'm not under a 32, not by a longshot, lol, so I don't know what the smaller sizes were like for adults.

SenseofEntitlement · 06/02/2012 09:08

I think people objected to padded bras in the age sizes, if you get what I mean - ie labelled 10-11, designed for a flat chest but with loads of padding.

mrsjay · 06/02/2012 09:12

yes thats what people were objecting to sense although i did read some mums of younger children not understanding why a young teen would want padding in bras they seemed to miss the point , younger girls like a bit of padding for their own comfort not to be sexy ,

OrmIrian · 06/02/2012 09:12

Try Matalan then. They have heaps of teen bras. All charmingly padded and underwired Hmm I spoke to DD about it and she laughed and said that all her friends had had problems getting ordinary bras and in fact she and one of her mates were the last ones in the class not to be walking round looking like they had 2 small jelly moulds strapped to their chests, Fucking ridiculous!

Last time I bought some George plain white bras for DD in 28 AA. Guess they don;t do them now then?

mrsjay · 06/02/2012 09:16

I object to huge padded bras i hate them and struggle sometimes those moulded bras do my head in , im not huge 32/34 back but i dont want these boulders sticking out in front of me ,

OrmIrian · 06/02/2012 09:17

DD and I are taking a trip to Debenhams soon. I seem to remember they had some last time we were in there. Probably lots of money though.
