AIBU to feel a bit uncomfortable with this event?

There's a ladies night event on next Saturday that a few friends and I have been invited to. The dress code is 'emergency services' and so other ladies have bought outfits from Ann Summers (naughty nurse outfits etc) with all hotpants and boobs out...

I don't know, it just doesn't sit right. I know I should go along to fit in because everyone else is. But I don't want to dress in a way that I feel cheapens me. I almost feel like its a bit degrading actually. But then, am I just being to sensitive? I am a bit that way this week Confused

Grin squeaky.

CotesduRhone · 28/01/2012 23:49

Hahaha! I am going to bear that in mind while necking my next pint. I can't possibly be a lady.

Mind you, it's just as well the word lady means fuck all these days. Most of us prefer to be described in our whole fabulousness as 'women'. Amazing thought that.

Aren't 'ladies' just 'women you don't need around while important or interesting stuff is happening'? The word always sounds so anaemic and hopeless to me. Grin

necks a pint

LeBOF · 28/01/2012 23:50

Even without blokes present, this sort of competitive sexifying is demeaning. It's all about establishing a pecking order of attractiveness and man-pleasing. Ew.

WorraLiberty · 28/01/2012 23:51

Squeaky Grin Grin

troisgarcons · 28/01/2012 23:51

I find AF and Yellow quite sad ..... you have no respect for men or indeed your female counterparts. I find gay woman far more predatory than decent straight men.

AnyFucker · 28/01/2012 23:52

trois, what a strange comment

AnyFucker · 28/01/2012 23:53

your problems with being the prey of gay women seem a trfle misplaced here, trois

AnyFucker · 28/01/2012 23:53

trifle

troisgarcons · 28/01/2012 23:55

No stranger than AFs peculiar wanderings into establishments where men use their penis as twizzle sticks

tho' Im thinking there may be a market for this ....ponders

AnyFucker · 28/01/2012 23:56

peculiar it may be, true it certainly is

LeBOF · 28/01/2012 23:56

I wouldn't eat cock-infused trifle either.

piratecat · 28/01/2012 23:56

I can't stop thinking about Phoenix NIghts and the inflatable now.

AgentZigzag · 28/01/2012 23:56

'No stranger than AFs peculiar wanderings into establishments where men use their penis as twizzle sticks'

Now you've got to admit AF, that's a pretty good comeback Grin

AgentZigzag · 28/01/2012 23:57

I would if there was sherry involved LeB.

yellowraincoat · 28/01/2012 23:58

Yes. Men feel desperately disrespected by my drinking of pints. It's really awful for them.

Those lesbians are awful aren't they? Pint-drinking, short-haired predators.

LeBOF · 28/01/2012 23:59

Now I'm thinking of Joey in Friends noshing down meaty trifle...

I bow down to your superior ale knowledge AF. I'm more of a g&t drinker tbh.

CotesduRhone · 29/01/2012 00:00

Hang on, lesbians aren't women? I'm doing this all wrong.

animula · 29/01/2012 00:01

Eh?

How on the sweet, wide earth did predatory gay women get into this conversation?

What is going on on your side of the internet troisgarcons?

Birdsgottafly · 29/01/2012 00:02

Who said that men are bothered by women drinking pints, all i have seen is women judging women refering to clothing as slutty Hmm , on this thread.

Men are not as bothered about how women behave or look, as other women are.

AnyFucker · 29/01/2012 00:03

AZZ, it's a fabulous comeback

it's made me even sadder than I was before

animula · 29/01/2012 00:04

"meat raffle"

Is that code for something?

I've visited the North (Manchester, Newcastle, Skye, Glasgow and Swaledale). I missed all this.

AgentZigzag · 29/01/2012 00:07

Boo hoo sad, or 'that AF is a right sad twat' sad?

I'm not sad, Alien is on film four Smile
