I want to sue Headmasters Salon

sississy · 27/01/2012 23:08

So I walked into Headmasters today and asked if there was any possibility I could book colouring for tomorrow? The receptionist said yes and it will be £68 but you also need to book a blow dry which is £20...
I explained to her that I dont like blow dry, and I don't ever use hair drier, and I like to style my hair myself, is it possible I can just have the colouring procedure done?
She said it is their policy every colour procedure must be booked with a blow dry...
Now, I have a very messy curly crazy hair...Don't I have the right to keep it this way?
Is she ( I mean the salon) discriminating against me?

You can't sue because you have suffered no loss. Don't like their policy, go elsewhere. Yabu.

blackoutthesun · 27/01/2012 23:11

yes sue the fuckers Hmm

workshy · 27/01/2012 23:11

they are protecting their image -they can't have people walking out of their salon with wet hair well they could but it wouldn't look very good

YABU

ZillionChocolate · 27/01/2012 23:12

You will deffo get like a million quid compo for sure Hmm

keepingupwiththejoneses · 27/01/2012 23:15

As aa ex hairdresser, she is not discriminating. There is a very good reason they need to blow dry your hair after. The fact is that the peroxide in the colour with open up the cuticle in your hair strands and the best way to ensure they are completely closed is to blow dry the hair. Also it is to check that the hair has taken properly while you are still in the salon, that way you can't come back the next day and say it hasn't worked properly, as you could have done anything to your hair in the meantime.

wineforthelady · 27/01/2012 23:15

I hate having my hair dried by other people, mind a hairdresser that doesn't mind, I do mobile now they don't care one way or another and there are some excellent ones out there.............

wineforthelady · 27/01/2012 23:15

I mean FIND not mind, obviously....

The country's in recession... find a hairdresser that will allow you to do what you want. Even if you do have to nip out of the back door looking like a drowned rat.

Pandemoniaa · 27/01/2012 23:17

Just a word of advice. If you wish to sue someone, it is always wise to have some basis on which to er, base your case.

If you don't like their policies then don't have your hair done at this salon. I don't believe there is yet any enacted legislation that would force your arse into their chairs and keep you manacled there while they take evil liberties with your hair.

Unless you know differently of course...

Pandemoniaa · 27/01/2012 23:17

Or you could, of course, just have a Biscuit

sississy · 27/01/2012 23:21

keepingupwiththejoneses

thanks so much for your taking the trouble to answer my question and explaining to me why the salon have the blow dry policy.
I just wish the lady could have explained that to me and I would be satisfied and Headmasters would have my custom. Now I will up my budget a little and look for another salon.
Thanks

I have always asked for a 'rough' dry as this is free.
However,i have recently been going to headmasters and have found they won't do this.I really like the colourist though and they do good discounts on Monday's and Tuesdays so will stick with it.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 24/02/2012 23:14

£88 for a haircut? Shock good grief! spend a fiver and do it yourself at home and spend the other £83 on wine and chocolate something useful or nice instead.

BettySuarez · 24/02/2012 23:27

OP are you actually familiar with the true meaning of 'discrimination'?

maddening · 24/02/2012 23:31

they should just quote the price inclusive of blow drying if it has to be done regardless

southeastastra · 24/02/2012 23:36

my hairdressers used to just do a rough dry after colour, def not a full blow dry but enough to check colour etc and def not £20

hairdressers really do rip women off imo with these silly extras that you don't really need

ifeelloved · 24/02/2012 23:37

Can I ask what you want to sue them for? Assuming this isn't a joke!

desperatenotstupid · 24/02/2012 23:38

I cant believe someone would pay £88 to have their hair coloured, that is mental

desperatenotstupid · 24/02/2012 23:39

to be fair, i feelloved, i dont think the OP did say she wanted to sue :)

ifeelloved · 24/02/2012 23:48

She did. The thread title is I want to sue headmasters salon!!

VivaLaSativa · 24/02/2012 23:50

They want you to have a blowdry so you look good when you leave, drowned rat leaving the door is not a good look, or an image that any salon would want to project.

£88 for a cut and colour is quite cheap imo, Depends on whether you are having a few different foils then that's alright I suppose.

Bearing in mind that they don't want you to leave with dripping wet hair, You could refuse to pay for a blowdry, If they have any sort of integrity they will dry your hair a bit before you leave, so they avoid the aforementioned dilemma of a less than glam client leaving past all their waiting customers, and the potential ones on the street.Wink

southeastastra · 24/02/2012 23:52

i still think £20 for a blow dry is really extortionate. it only takes about ten minutes, five mins rough dry

we pay for it so they get away with charging for it
