£26k is a vast improvement on my current income.

...or am I being too hopeful Grin

YANBU. When you work out how to get yourself £26k without working, could you let me know please?

FoofFighter · 27/01/2012 08:23
Biscuit Hmm
Birdsgottafly · 27/01/2012 08:25

OP why don't you disable yourself in someway, instead, then you would cash in and get a free car, on top Hmm

Rachelwalsh · 27/01/2012 08:27

Good luck with that, let us know how it works out for you. If I were you I'd be down the flat screen telly shop because that's what it's like being unemployed in the UK these days isn't it? All oodles of free money and flat screen tellies apparently. Hmm

Dawndonna · 27/01/2012 08:28

Go get your figures sorted out.
Hmm

Mrsgradgrind · 27/01/2012 08:48

I think you need to return to the Daily Mail site as that would appear to be where you obtain your "information".

samandi · 27/01/2012 08:48

How does that work? I was until recently unemployed and had a grand income of £0 per annum.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 27/01/2012 08:54

err I think she was joking people

Mrsgradgrind · 27/01/2012 08:56

Great, let's joke about people living in poverty because unemployment is so funny isn't it?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 27/01/2012 08:59

she was being sarcastic to poke fun at the benefits bashing threads..if you look, she is about to become unemployed herself

Garliccheesechips · 27/01/2012 09:02

Bloody hell, this place is a humour vacuum sometimes.

Mrsgradgrind · 27/01/2012 09:03

Sorry SOH breakdown this end

patsdeadfrank · 27/01/2012 09:05

dont forget your free goat.

GypsyMoth · 27/01/2012 09:06

It's still not funny, joking, even Tongue in cheek. Because there is always one who takes it literally and adds to the 'urban myth'

coraltoes · 27/01/2012 09:06

Sorry you are losing your job. Sorry people didn't realise you were trying to make light of your problem. Sorry three have been a million fucking threads about benefits, bashing, supporting, disembowelling, shooting, cuddling, kicking... Can't we all just go back to hating our mother in laws?! The witches must be loving this!!

keepingupwiththejoneses · 27/01/2012 09:06

I don't actually find that funny in any way what so ever. Only people who have never had to rely on benefits or had to struggle would joke about the fact that some families may well be trying to pay the household bills feed and clothe their children on less than £200 a week, after paying their rent.

Bossybritches22 · 27/01/2012 09:06

mrsgradgrind don't worry we're all a bit SOH-less at times these days, lets have more sarcasm I say, we could do with a laugh.

I'm all for a serious discussion & good debate but a the moment a bit of light relief anywhere is welcome IMHO!

coraltoes · 27/01/2012 09:06

This reprieve I mean.

Dillydaydreaming · 27/01/2012 09:15

Yes - was being a bit sarcastic about the benefit bashing threads. I am about to become unemployed for the first time in 20 years and am dreading it quite frankly. I've sat down with a benefits advisor and will be £150 a month worse off even with Carers Allowance and my son's DLA.
Quite honestly I dread to think how much worse off I'd be without that coming in to help.
Please don't think I am poking fun at unemployment - I am not. Just making the point that this £26k is a red herring because the vast majority of us won't see anything like that amount - even with housing benefit.
And I was poking fun at myself here - nobody else - lighten up folks - MN is too judgemental these days but not surprising given the benefit bashing which goes on.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 27/01/2012 09:16
