to have reported this photo on facebook?

It shows a little boy (6/7?) pretending to have sex with a lady "doggy style". The posted has then photoshopped the face of the women with one of his male friends. THey are fully clothed.

Was I right? This is child abuse/pornography isnt it, even if fully clothed?

SB you really need to educate yourself Shock

yes, I would report that photo and insist it be taken down

if I knew the child/family I would be considering reporting it elsewhere too

thisisyesterday · 24/01/2012 20:38

have you reported it just to facebook? or taken it further?

AnaisB · 24/01/2012 20:41

Not sure whether you mean report to Facebook or report further. I'd do both.

FunnysInTheGarden · 24/01/2012 20:42

it is abuse and totally vile. I would be horrified if it were my 6yo DS. He really wouldn't have a clue what was going on. Awful

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 24/01/2012 21:05

Yes I would report it.

MissVerinder · 24/01/2012 21:10

YADNBU.

It is abuse. I hope whoever is responsible gets a right razzing for it.

KRITIQ · 24/01/2012 21:31

In Scotland it would be considered abuse. According to the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland 2012,

"Sexual abuse is any act that involves the child in any activity for the sexual gratification of another person, whether or not it is claimed that the child either consented or assented. Sexual abuse involves forcing or enticing a child to take part in sexual activities, whether or not the child is aware of what is happening. The activities may involve physical contact, including penetrative or non-penetrative acts. They may include non-contact activities, such as involving children in looking at, or in the production of, pornographic material or in watching sexual activities, using sexual language towards a child or encouraging children to behave in sexually inappropriate ways.

At the very least, the last sentence seems to apply to this image. Definitely report to Facebook but also to the police. Although this is one image, there is no way of knowing whether the person has other inappropriate images of that or another child or the context within which it was taken.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 24/01/2012 21:37

I agree its abuse.
It may be a totally stupid one off or it could be something worse.
Getting children 'used' to being in inappropriate positions/situations is grooming isnt it?

If it really is a spectactularly ill thought out 'joke' it is still putting a young child in a horrible situation and then posting it for all to see. That photo is on the internet now. It wont go away.

WHY on God's earth would anyone do this?

hairytaleofnewyork · 24/01/2012 23:08

It is in fact yes, child sex abuse. Yanbu.

Miette · 24/01/2012 23:15

I think whoever would do that to a child must be pretty sick and it would make me wonder what else they were doing.

bringbacksideburns · 24/01/2012 23:18

No YANBU. Sounds very weird.

CuriousMama · 24/01/2012 23:26

Report it. Anyone who says it's not abuse is a twisted fuck imo. I'd be surprised if it's not already been reported tbh?

Robinredboobs · 24/01/2012 23:27

YANBU - sounds like "making indecent images of children" which i'm pretty sure can get you on the sex offenders register...

DamnBamboo · 24/01/2012 23:53

Of course it's abuse!

Fuck me stranded

tigerlillyd02 · 25/01/2012 03:06

No question about it being abuse.

What goes through the minds of some of these parents? Even if it just 'happened' to be that way, by mistake or whatever, why would anyone photoshop it and post onto facebook?

They clearly see it as being amusing in order to do that, even if there was no abuse involved in the picture being taken, but I see nothing funny about it.

I think if I ever saw DS doing something that looked like that, but innocent to him I'd be more inclined to ignore it or maybe talk about inappropriate behaviour if I thought it was something other than being entirely innocent. Getting the camera out is a definite no-no! That's abuse in itself by allowing the child to think it's an OK and 'funny' thing to do and therefore encouraging it!

I'd be reporting to the police if it were me, or sending on to the local SS dept for them to decide if it's worthy of an investigation.

OnlyWantsOne · 25/01/2012 08:02

Confused who ever said its not abuse

It is. End of. Report.

Callisto · 25/01/2012 08:17

So have you reported to anyone other that Facebook, OP?

porcamiseria · 25/01/2012 09:03

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew

yes, and I would also report to police, sorry bit its the think fucking wedge. would like to see them shit scared by a visit from the police, fucking twats

wellwisher · 25/01/2012 09:05

I would save the picture before FB take it down and send it anonymously to police/SS together with details of the person who posted it.

Gribble · 25/01/2012 09:46

In other threads (like "I saw a kid with no coat on WIBU to report to SS and go for custody") I am pretty gobsmacked at the rush of people to say "you should have rang the police thats outrageous" but in this case I have to say Im pretty disgusted and would definitely tell someone, maybe SS in the first instance with a quick call to the local police station to keep them in the loop.

Id also post a note on the persons wall to tell them I think they are twats, just to make sure other people saw it.

And yes to getting a screen shot of it or something as proof.

foglike · 25/01/2012 09:48

Of course it sounds like child abuse and report it to death, then report it again.

Just because the photo has a woman in it instead of a man it's still abuse.

Thingumy · 25/01/2012 09:50

I agree with reporting to CEOP.

I have reported to them in the past few years and the 'image' was investigated very thoroughly and I was informed of the investigating process and outcome by the officer who took on my report.

Thingumy · 25/01/2012 09:51

report here OP

Bloodymary · 25/01/2012 10:06

Yuk, how awful. I am glad you have reported it, I second reporting it to the police and/or SS.
I do not know how well you know this person, but I could not let this type of person within 100 yards of my DC.

kelly2000 · 25/01/2012 11:20

if it was posed, then yes it was right to report it. To be honest I woudl also contact the police and at least ask their advice. The person who put this up thinks this is the sort of picture that is acceptable to show friends on facebook, what does that say about their limitations. Crimestoppers allows anonymous reporting if you do not want to be named.
