Is my baby ready for solids?

My mum (who's had 12 kids) says we should start weaning when DS starts eating food from our plates and stops sleeping through the night. The other day, when I popped out to get some fags (ok, ok, I know but I was only gone a couple of hours), I came back and DS was sitting there and the kabab was gone from my plate. Also, it's now taking at least 4 shots of bacardi in his bottle to get him to sleep through at night these days. Now it could have been one of the staffies that ate the kabab. I'm not sure. Should I wait? What do you think? He's already 2 weeks and I'm worried if I don't start now, he'll never develop a taste for the chippie which could cause all kinds of problems later on.

KateSpade · 23/01/2012 13:26

Is anyone else reading this tread in the voice of Ali G?

Cringe, but i so was.

Who are you taking the mick out of? Young mums? yes, but why?

Moominsarescary · 23/01/2012 13:41

Sounds like half my fb and non of them are young mums

5inthebed · 23/01/2012 19:57

Nah, was reading it in the voice of Perry from Harry Enfield.

MoodyKat, I need to know more about the pea fritter!

pookamoo · 23/01/2012 20:07

Robin no....I was doing more of a Denise from the Royal Family! Grin

RobinSparkles · 23/01/2012 20:27

Wasn't there an MNer called Yunoyerbubson? Wonder where she's gone?

I don't think OP is doin this to try and make fun of young mums, just kind of the anti-MNer. I don't know if that even makes sense but I know what I mean! Grin Maybe she thought people would come on in an outrage believing that she was really early weaning? I dunno.

RobinSparkles · 23/01/2012 20:30

Grin at Denise from Royle Family!

I've seen people on FB write like this - my sister uses Text Speak and I always read it in my head as Ali G Blush

RobinSparkles · 23/01/2012 20:33

Although my RL accent is probably close to Denise from RF!

drippyVaJjandVagBean · 23/01/2012 22:57

I'm a 'young mum' 23 with a 3 and 4yo.

And I'm finding this hilarious, half of my facebook is like it, its better than tv.

Anyway back to the op.

Baybe, ave ya given him smash yet put ketchup in for sum veg innit

DonnaKabab · 23/01/2012 23:25

Fanks every1 4 the tips. The taboo and greggs sausage rolls work a treat. Left him asleep in front of the TV at 4 when I went to the pub. Just got back from the pub and lil man's still sleeping. Aw bless. Got a donut for the nite feed. Bet he won't even wake up wen my bloke comes over l8r 4 sum action.

DonnaKabab · 23/01/2012 23:26

Oh yeh, smash is too pricey. Got the Tesco basics one instead. Like I say he won't eat no foreign muck so no pot noodles or nuffink. Might start on crisps tomorro. xxxx

Moodykat · 23/01/2012 23:32

5inthebed- wot do you need to know no Hun? (why does iPhone capitalise that)
Pea fritters are purfick for bubbas. Altho my little gawjus bubs didn't like the salt and vinegar.

MixedBerries · 23/01/2012 23:55

pookamoo, quite! A dig at Waynetta types. That clip reminded me how good Harry Enfield was in his day.

CBear6 · 24/01/2012 10:12

An old woman at the bus stop told me t give babby a spoonful of honey every day cos it stops allergies sumfing to do with bees and magic I think. We haven't got any honey so I've been giving babby a mug of golden syrup every morning. Well it's the same stuff isn't it and you've got to do what you can to help protect them!

KatAndKit · 24/01/2012 10:43

U R so resourceful n cleva. Anyway stupid old bat shoulda known not to give honey to a babby. your golden syrup idea is gr8 and soon you can give bubs pancakes with it too.

donna so pleased to hear bubs enjoyed his greggs. when you are out and about you can give him one in his pushchair that will keep him quiet while you drink cider in the park with the other mums.

drippyVaJjandVagBean · 24/01/2012 10:59

Oh yeh tesco basics is much beta more salt in that so more flava for em.
An dont go wastin ya dole on fruit shoots get panda pops ther far cheapa and more brightly colourd so more fruit init I'm gessin yeah. Wen is teeth cum thru get im on the pork pies they is harder betta for im when e is teethin --said the women on the bus to me with 6wk old dd--

ShowOfHands · 24/01/2012 11:15
