AIBU to ask for your help, even though I'm not being unreasonable at all?

The answer is yes, I'm being unreasonable by asking a question in Am I Being Unreasonable and by asking if I'm reasonable when asking an entirely unreasonable question in an entirely unreasonable topic.

Seriously though. For those who've followed my story you'll know I've got body issues, PND and a very supportive DP who is the absolute epitome of a perfect partner. If you haven't been following my story - congratulations! You've been caught up!

It's our two-year anniversary on Feb 8th. I'm really struggling on what to get him or do for him. Idea one is to get him a white-gold male wedding/engagement ring because he's bought me one and I think it would be a lovely gesture. Idea two is to buy myself a nice bra/knicker set and let him have ME as the present.

I like idea one. Idea two is also do-able but not really that "special" IYSWIM because we have an OK sex life and ever since I've started going to the gym he's actually told me to lay off on the touching and the kinkyness because he needs a break from it sometimes too!

But yeah, anyone got any ideas on how I can make this anniversary really special? He's been so supportive and amazing to me and I want to repay him with something really WOW!

Idea 1

AtYourCervix · 20/01/2012 18:52

idea 1.

can you get a babysitter or offlooad the DCs for the night, cook a nice meal, drink some nice wine etc?

StealthPenguin · 20/01/2012 18:55

Well we've got live-in babysitters, otherwise known as the In-Laws. So I'm thinking they'll look after DS while we pop out to do something, but I would love to do something better for him.

Have found a lovely ring that would suit him, is only £29.99 but he doesn't like expensive jewellery and it's white gold - same as my engagement ring!

Any other ideas from anyone? or do I just stick with idea one?

both

AtYourCervix · 20/01/2012 19:01

hotel for the night? i had a room in the hilton a couple of weeks ago for £40.

StealthPenguin · 20/01/2012 19:02

Could do, but not really many places to go. There's a Travelodge down the road!!

Prunella79 · 20/01/2012 19:02

oops didn't see the last line but maybe wrap yourself in a birthday ribbon instead of expensive lingerie

pictish · 20/01/2012 19:03

I think both too!

OnlyANinja · 20/01/2012 19:04

Titanium rather than white gold? (for budget and general blokey coolness)

coraltoes · 20/01/2012 19:04

Just a thought but will he then get another ring at the wedding? He might not want to wear two if he isn't into jewellery. Does he wear cufflinks or a watch?

It is a lovely idea and can be combined ith the second one for an even better evening!!

AtYourCervix · 20/01/2012 19:04

travelodge would do. pack underwear, cava and a gourmet picnic.

StealthPenguin · 20/01/2012 19:04

Travelodge is £25.50 for the night, so could do that and the ring? Anyone else with ideas?

StealthPenguin · 20/01/2012 19:06

Oooooh, picnic sounds fabulous! That's a really good idea!

What kind of stuff could we have in a picnic in a hotel though?? Any suggestions from people?

OP posts:
coraltoes · 20/01/2012 19:07

Oh champagne, crusty bread, cheese, Parma ham, pâté, quiche or pie, Scotch eggs, lovely chocolate, lemon tarts, um anything!!!

ASByatt · 20/01/2012 19:15

Or strawberries, chocolate sauce....? Somehow p**ng myself at the suggestion of scotch eggs, no offence to coraltoes! Grin

StealthPenguin · 20/01/2012 19:15

Wow... that actually sounds FANTASTIC!

Hmmm, got a bottle of Bucks Fizz knocking about the place, and a load of his ciders! Mumsnet - you are a genius!

By the way, what do you all think of this?

OP posts:
AtYourCervix · 20/01/2012 19:15

my night in the hilton (alone) involved me packing a bag of ice and a bottle of pink cava (just for me!)

my ideal decadent picnic

nice bread
butter
cheese
nice ham
olives
strawberries
dips and carrots/cucumber sticks
chocolate

champagne or cava

pack a big bag with plates, cutlery, cork-screw, napkins, glasses etc

maybe something dribbly or squirty cream or something playful

don't forget loads of tealights and wipes (for afterwards/surfaces)

StealthPenguin · 20/01/2012 19:16

Strawberries!! Definitely, I made chocolate-covered strawberries on our second date so that's perfect!

OP posts:
AtYourCervix · 20/01/2012 19:17

the ring is lovely - really nice. and won't go yellowish like white gold does.

StealthPenguin · 20/01/2012 19:17

LMAO at "wipes". Trust me, with a 6mo DS I have a pack of wipes within grabbing reach regardless of where I am!

OP posts:
coraltoes · 20/01/2012 19:18

I hate scotch eggs! No idea why I wrote that. Haha

StealthPenguin · 20/01/2012 19:18

Do Travelodge let you bring in your own DVD players or something? Because that would be perfect - bung on a film that DP and I like!

OP posts:
AtYourCervix · 20/01/2012 19:19

hmmm - would they even know? if you remember all the leads and stuff.

or ring and ask them?

Hullygully · 20/01/2012 19:19

scotch eggs

the romance

lololol

StealthPenguin · 20/01/2012 19:20

Could do... or is that a bit "much" considering we probably won't be watching much? Wink
