The thing is, I've judged things wrong before but I really want to.

AIBU?

I'm not in the tory club before you ask.

Yes.

If you feel that strongly, don't go.

FrothyDragon · 18/01/2012 19:10

Ohhh, please go dressed as a miner. PLEASE! Grin

And take a carton of milk with you.

FaithHopeAndKevin · 18/01/2012 19:12

You could be more subtle and go as Arthur Scargill with the ginger comb over.

GentleOtter · 18/01/2012 19:14

Invite Tommy Sheridan as a guest. Grin

lubeybooby · 18/01/2012 19:16

lmfao at the thought of a miner turning up with a carton of milk. Oh please do it - and video it ;)

RuleBritannia · 18/01/2012 19:17

Dress properly. Margaret Thatcher did a tremendous amount for this country and it was so much bringing the Great back into Britain that there was talk of a state funeral when ..........

FrothyDragon · 18/01/2012 19:17
Grin
KittyFane · 18/01/2012 19:19

If you're not a Tory girl why would you go to a Tory club?
YABU to contemplate being seen dead in the place going.

IWantMyHatBack · 18/01/2012 19:19

Who else read that as mner? Wink

MoreBeta · 18/01/2012 19:21

I would go and be respectful to your host even if you don't agree with what Thatcher did, or not go at all.

Nevergarglebrandybutter · 18/01/2012 19:24

there's no chance the others there might just find it amusing too?

i know, i know.
i will decline the offer.

OP posts:
FrothyDragon · 18/01/2012 19:26

I'd have found it amusing...

But then I'd probably have been there for the same reason...

Nevergarglebrandybutter · 18/01/2012 19:27

i would have a lunchbox and a headlamp.

OP posts:
ElectricSoftParade · 18/01/2012 19:28

Oh don't decline the offer. You will see them in their natural habitat (the Tories) and be able to report back.

And if you did go dressed as a miner, well, that would be just perfect Grin

Tanyaaah · 18/01/2012 19:29

I find it amusing.

MildlyNarkyPuffin · 18/01/2012 19:33

I'd find it amusing too. But I wouldn't be in the Tory Club.

We need some tame Tories to poll.

aldiwhore · 18/01/2012 19:35

Don't. Its not suitable for miners.

Nevergarglebrandybutter · 18/01/2012 19:48

butterfliesandladybirds · 18/01/2012 19:50

Oh do go dressed as a miner and start up a chorus of "Maggie, Maggie, Maggie ;Out, out, out!" Please.

marriedinwhite · 18/01/2012 19:54

YANBU to want to go dressed as a miner but incredibly ill mannered if you do. If you have such strong feelings why are you a member of the Tory club.

Actually they may take it as a mark of respect because the miner's strike was a huge victory for Mrs Thatcher and allowed legislation that favoured the unions, who had up until that time held the country to ransom and contributed towards bringing primary industry and manufacturing to its knees.

blackeyedsusan · 18/01/2012 19:57

but which miner? UDM or NUM?

butterfliesandladybirds · 18/01/2012 19:58

What a lot of posters here with no sense of humour, no-one would surely actually do this! It would be rude regardless of your views on her.
