There is jack all on tv, its fecking cold, dh is not coming home and I can't find the hotwater bottle. So can I remove the dc's from their beds and use them? The cat won't sit on the bed if a human is there and the dog farts so it would have to be a dc I think.

They ARE toys Fibble! Why else have the buggers if you can't make use of them now and then? OP YANBU. I like a nice warm toddler to squish at bedtme myself.

My 3 year old does the job well and even my 7 year old is kind of cuddly still...bit bony nowadays... but still warmer than me!

trulyscrumptious43 · 16/01/2012 22:12

Have a lovely hot bath but pop a squidgy toddler in your bed before getting in the bath. Then when you get out of the bath, the bed will be just the right temperature.

Figgyrolls · 16/01/2012 22:17

Hmmm squishy toddler post bath...................brilliant.

God that makes me realise...baby sleeping bags are actually just fancy hot water bottle covers! Brilliant! And toddlers are safer than hot water bottles. They only leak now and then and it's never boiling!

FunnysInTheGarden · 16/01/2012 22:20

oooh, I might get into DS2's cot with him. If I move him he will wake the household, lovely and soft and warm though.

Figgyrolls · 16/01/2012 22:20

that is very true! Although mine is very leaky at the moment!

DH is away this week so DD has been warming my bed for me every night, I love it and she doesn't wake when i stick my cold feet on her either...lovely!

daenerysstormborn · 16/01/2012 22:26

a child or 1 minute blast from a hairdryer under the duvet makes it nice and toasty.

Zalen · 16/01/2012 22:26

'Not a toy' I had to tell my oldest that so often when youngest ds was born, he was always asking 'can I have a go on him' 10 year age gap and he loved to hold and feed his baby brother.

sharenicely · 16/01/2012 22:26

I can't believe some people on here.... Toys ! Hot water bottles ?
They are fashion accessories and nothing else !

Figgyrolls · 16/01/2012 22:28

I like the idea of putting them there for half an hour or so then putting them back in their own beds - win/win Grin

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 16/01/2012 22:33

Oh and of course they aren't toys!! If they were toys you'd be able to turn the bloody things off!!

QueenPodling · 16/01/2012 22:33

So very jealous of all this. DH refuses to let DS in bed with us, even though he is so very snuggly. He might have a point though, the one time I did try it, DS only managed to sleep by bodyslamming us both into submission first. No idea where he learnt that. He's only 19mo and I'm fairly sure has never seen pro wrestling.

LetUsPrey · 16/01/2012 22:34

Back in vaguely medieval times - obviously I will have got this time period wrong but what I mean is back in the very very olden days - didn't the lord and lady of the castle get servants to lie on their bed to warm it up for them? I'm sure the guide type person told us this on a tour round a castle in Yorkshire, the name of which I'm buggered I can remember.

Therefore, my point is, this is educational and you would be teaching your children a valuable history lesson. Fact.

LetUsPrey · 16/01/2012 22:34

FFS - the name of which I'm buggered if I can remember.

It's late.

CailinDana · 16/01/2012 22:36

Hairdryer blasted into the bed for a minute or so, lovely toasty bed. Just make sure not to cover the whole hairdryer - you and your bed may burst into flame.

CailinDana · 16/01/2012 22:38

Oops only just saw daenerys' post - sorry, not trying to steal your ideas!

Figgyrolls · 16/01/2012 22:38

Its very late and I should be in my bath.

I am now considering purchasing servants if I can, although I am not sure that any would want to sleep in my bed as whatever i do it smells of milk vom.

Win win would be to drop one off whilst I have a bath and then put it back in its bed. Question is, do I take the one that is very likely to come in anyway and expect some midnight roaming or do I do mean and take the nice sleepy one?

leeloo1 · 16/01/2012 22:39

If you have an extension lead you could put the heated airing tower in your bed whilst your in the bath?

Not as squidgy as a toddler, but less wriggly and it won't sit on your face, kick you or scream in the early hours. :)

71Gurl · 16/01/2012 22:39

lol

leeloo1 · 16/01/2012 22:39

(you're in the...)

startail · 16/01/2012 22:40

DH away here too. 13 and 10 are a bit big to cosleep. Anyway the older one has a streaming cold.
