So...dd2 is six months and teething. Went to bed seven, woke three times between then an eleven. Slept til one awake til three. Woke once more then up at five forty along with Mu other two dc. Now feeding her and praying she'll sleep. But as she was fussing just now, I was cross with the fact she wasn't asleep rather than sorry for her and full of compassion. Aibu? Or aib abnormal really? I feel horrible. Not the first time I've felt like it.

I've been there, and worse.
my baby has a cough at the moment so is coughing all night then retching so i keep jumping up wondering if he's thrown up everywhere.

ItsOkItsJustMyBreath · 16/01/2012 20:44

Thank you for admitting this, I've felt like such a bad mum recently (no sleep for almost 2 weeks due to cold, ear infection and now teething) and I'm living in some kind of fog iykwim.
Ibuprofen, Ashton and parsons and lots of cuddles are the only things that work here. Only on tooth number 7 and DREADING molars coming through.

YANBU

Oh natural baby- been there with the cough/vomit thing before Christmas. Horrible. Will look up the new teething gel suggestion-have googled necklaces and might give them a go. Can a six month old baby safely wear one? I do think honesty is the best policy. It might not solve the problem admitting how you feel, but you at least then feel less guilt. For me, guilt doesn't spur me on to do better, it ears me up and paralyses. Whereas today, I feel like trying to be the best I can because others are trying too.

That's wake up number three, but so far feed and off again. Calpol if she wakes up properly. Will be very glad to see the next little tooth emerge.

Another one feeling the pain here (and I'm talking about me). Dd 2, 13months, has grown 3 molars in 3 weeks and 4th is on its way. Result, very sleep deprived parents who are having nightime rows over whose turn it is to get up, sympathy has all run out. Tonight she went to bed at 7.30, woke at 10.40, 11.10 (ibruprofen administered), 12.00, now 12.40 and she's just fallen asleep in arms. Will put her down and hope for a luxurious hour or two before she wakes again.
I know she's hurting but just feel so tired & fed up. Oh dear this post turned into a self-pity fest- sorry!

1.05am, sigh

CavemanDave · 17/01/2012 04:05

Just administered an Ibuorofen/Anbesol/Teetha granules cocktail here. Going to follow with a gin chaser (for me).

minibmw2010 · 17/01/2012 04:37

Just gave him a Calpol hit followed by Dentinox and Nelsons. I'm worried that it may be more habit now than actual teething (even though we get the gnawing of the arm, copious amounts of drool, etc. as its always between 3.30/4.30 he wakes at the moment). Thoughts? Sad

Morning teething pals! Reading the times on last night's posts sums it up. How are you all doing this morning? Better night here-chucked dh out to the sofa and so could have dd in bed without being glued to her. So less aware of her. And not listening to dh snore gently!! Busy, busy evening then a big feedathon one til three but dozed on and off. Then up at five thirty, but dh on shift for all three til seven. We'll see how it goes. Hand holding and chocolate brownies available on request Smile

I've decided we are having a PJ day today, I don't think I've ever done that but I really don't fancy getting dressed today. He had a small amount of porridge and almost a full bottle so that's something. He's upstairs having a nap ... I've had my weetabix plus 2 cookies and a packet of mini cheddars already. Being tired is so bad for diets ....

coraltoes · 17/01/2012 11:18

Mini I was wonrng the same last tooth, but I think 4 is when lighter sleep kicks in so pain more likely to wake them. Our has finally cut overnight...yep no sleep again. Seems like a relentless teething month for us.

ItsOkItsJustMyBreath · 17/01/2012 11:45

coraltoes 4am definitely seems to be the time ds wakes up the most so would make sense. His tooth has finally cut but he's still teething, think another one is on its way. He gave me lots and lots of bite kisses this morning... lovely but painful!

coraltoes · 17/01/2012 12:26

We had hourly wake ups til midnight, then calpol, then 4 am then 7. But at 4 she took ages to settle. Today appetite seems to be up, which is a good sign and I am counting the minutes til nap time.

Molehillmountain · 17/01/2012 13:27

Grizzle, grizzle, grizzle! Fingers crossed that she's just going off for a decent nap now. We get the biggest wake up between three and four usually so the light sleep thing makes sense. No chance of diet here either-friend popped round with cookies. Hoping that grumpy day will be followed by acceptable night. Do think that it takes a few days to break the habit of waking up. Bit like if lunch is always twelve that's when you feel hungry. Hang on in there.

Btw-pjs the way to go. And duvet on the sofa. Be kind to yourself Smile

We had a much better day milk and food wise, he's just had about 3/4 of a pouch of pork & apple plus a yoghurt which I'm chuffed about. Smile

There has been some Calpol and Neurofen during the day which might have helped but that's what it's for I guess.

Fingers crossed for a good night for all.

Molehillmountain · 18/01/2012 12:46

That sounds really positive minibmw. How was your night?

Hi all,

DD on hunger strike.....arrrghh.she's 17 months, she needs food!

coraltoes · 18/01/2012 13:34

We are back to normal. Full nights sleep and eating again. Hooray for tooth finally cutting!! How is everyone else getting on?

coraltoes · 18/01/2012 13:37

Zimm. Bananas not going down? Hard boiled egg? Both of those keep them ticking over pretty well. But I do know if they don't want to eat, they just refuse. It is hell.

FunnysInTheGarden · 18/01/2012 13:39

YABU to be hard on yourself for this. I threatened to sell my DC for £20 at the weekend as they were being such a PITA Grin Tis human innit

minibmw2010 · 18/01/2012 18:19

We had a good night last night, I woke with a real start when DH's alarm went at 5.30, realising I hadn't gotten up at all then went back to sleep until he woke me at 6.30 absolutely full of beans. He's had 3 decent bottles so far and 3 meals and one bottle to go. Fingers crossed for another good night and hope you all get one too.
