Friend not turning up.

A friend texted to ask if she can stay over tonight, about a week ago. She used to live nearby and has come back for the weekend. She wanted to see other friends last night/today and us tonight/tomorrow. No problem. She was going to a show at 6 (in the village), so I expected her about 9ish.

So, I tidied the house, cleaned the spare room and made up the bed.

At 9.30 I texted her to ask when she thought the show might finish.

At 10.00 I called. No response.

At 10.30 she texted back. She had gone to the pub after the show.
I replied, saying we were waiting to eat, had she eaten? Should we order?

At 10.40 she replied that she had eaten, to go ahead and eat. We ate.

Still not here. Do I just go to bed and lock the door?

I would. How rude!

GreenEyesAndNiceHam · 15/01/2012 00:02

Yes

thepeoplesprincess · 15/01/2012 00:02

Hell yes!

Itsallgonetitsup · 15/01/2012 00:03

OMG - she sounds like she is just using you for a bed and little else.

Ues lock the door and go to bed.

Cheeser · 15/01/2012 00:03

Definitely go to bed and lock up. Very rude of her not to give you any idea when she might get there. I'm not sure I'd have given her till 10:30 for dinner, if I'm honest. Sounds like she's taking the mick Angry

LemonDifficult · 15/01/2012 00:03

No, let it go. It's annoying, though. Can you leave a key somewhere and text her where it is?

Just chalk it up to experience with her. Don't offer to have her to stay again.

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 15/01/2012 00:04

She could stay where she stayed last night, she won't be out in the cold. They are with her, so she'd be fine.

That's really rude of her to piss you about, especially not letting you know her plans are changing.

I'd text and tell her you're off to bed and is she staying elsewhere.

Maybe she's just got caught up in the moment if she's seeing old friends and forgotten her manners?

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 15/01/2012 00:09

Have texted. Going to bed.

I don't mind really, but a few things - got lots on at the moment and tidying the spare room wasn't on the priority list.

DH was in the middle of CC with the baby, but as we had a guest we abandoned it earlier, so that was all a waste of time. (Glad though, couldn't have gone through another night like last night :( )

Just the rudeness. Wasn't desperate for visitors in the first place - not as if she was invited!

Ah, a text back. She'll be here in 10 mins apparently...

runningwilde · 15/01/2012 00:13

I'd tell her to fuck off - she Is rude and you are letting her be rude

ImperialBlether · 15/01/2012 00:15

She's arriving at twenty past midnight?

Text back and tell her to sod off.

LoopyLoopsHootyHoots · 15/01/2012 00:24

She's here. Now I have to chat.

OP posts:
GColdtimer · 15/01/2012 00:29

No you don't. Say you have to go to bed. Time for chatting was earlier on in the night. Really rude.

ScaryFairy28 · 15/01/2012 00:37

Make sure and wake her up nice and early!! GrinGrin

Iheartpasties · 15/01/2012 00:42

sounds pretty rude! it's very late to turn up and then expect to chat with you! wake her up nice and early tomorrow :)

Bogeyface · 15/01/2012 00:48

Unless by "have to chat" you mean "tell her what a selfish rude and demanding person she is and that I will not tolerate her treating my home like a Travelodge" then forget the chatting and go to bed!

OlympicEater · 15/01/2012 00:59

Agree with Bogey word for word

SquashedSquirrel · 15/01/2012 01:00

It is very rude, I'd be too annoyed to chat to be honest. You've got more patience then me. Maybe that says a lot about me but its so late and there's no reason why she couldn't have simply communicated with you re her plans.

bobbledunk · 15/01/2012 02:13

She has used you for a free bed, send her home tomorrow without breakfast or conversation. You're 'busy'. Don't welcome into your home again.

suburbophobe · 15/01/2012 03:25

Totally selfish of her especially as you have a baby Shock

I'd be giving her the Travelodge talk too after an early wake-up call....babies can be handy for those Grin

runningwilde · 15/01/2012 06:52

Yabu for being a pushover
And for the CC

StealthPolarBear · 15/01/2012 06:55

Well, what's happening this morning?

cookcleanerchaufferetc · 15/01/2012 07:30

Get her to take you all out for breakfast, and she is paying! What a rude selfish cow! This would be the last time she stays if it were my house.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 15/01/2012 07:52

You are a better person than me. She would have been given until 10.30 to turn up, then the house would have been locked.
some people really do take the piss.
