Banarama05, I use the silicone ones from Boots. They work really well.

Quenelle, it went really well, thank you! I have a face to face interview on Wednesday Smile

Not food related but - I have just spent an hour on the treadmill at the gym next to a woman who wore her locker key on her waistband.

Jingle, jingle, jingle (that last bit was me punching her) Grin

LordOfTheFlies · 14/01/2012 15:41

Oooh I take your crisps and raise you:

I was working in a Nursing Home (I do from time to time as part of my work).

A lady was given a cup of tea and a biscuit.
She shlurped the tea out of the saucer, ate the biscuit (no crunching) but took her flase teeth out to suck of the biscuit.
Then demanded (no please or thank you) that I take the cup. I was busy, so I suggested she did. Her mobility was pretty good BTW. She then placed it on my work station (how hygenic) said "No it's your job" and pushed the tea cup-half full of cold tea- onto my lap Shock

Ha ha ha ha!!! Taking out false teeth to suck on biscuit!!! Grin

My Gran eats a biscuit, and then takes her teeth out and sucks them! It's noisy and revolting!

LordOfTheFlies · 14/01/2012 21:34

Sorry I meant off not of.
She ate the biscuit then took her teeth and and sucked her teeth.

It was a bit yuk .

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 15/01/2012 18:46

Lordoftheflies: let me get this straight - the lady (?) ate a biscuit then took out her false teeth to suck them clean?????? VOMIT!!!

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 15/01/2012 19:08

Cannot help but wonder if Saggyoldcloth's gran and Lordoftheflies lady(9) are one and the same person. Surely the world cannot be that messed up that there are 2 people who suck their false teeth clean of soggy biscuits once they have eaten the biscuit???????????

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 15/01/2012 19:15

It's disgusting isn't it! Gran then puts her teeth on the table cloth and then picks the Poly Grip off of her gums and leaves the bits on the side of her plate!!

anonacfr · 15/01/2012 19:31

How about the gulpy throat noise that you get when you drink? Not the slurping but the gulpy swallowing throat noise.

Both my mother and MIL do it and I could cheerfully kill them.

I remember a friend at uni who ate so disgustingly I literally had to leave the room. It was a. Nose in the plate b. shovel food as fast as possible, slurping, chomping, gurgling... Whatever made the food disappear as fast as possible. I swear he didn't have time to breathe in between mouthfuls.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 15/01/2012 20:39

Never mind the gulping, what about the blow the soup and suck it off the spoon trick then?! That one really winds me up!

happydotcom · 15/01/2012 20:41

Mine does that but with cornflakes.........drives me mad!!!

Eggrules · 15/01/2012 20:45

This was me at about hour 32 of my labour: STOP ... (contraction/gas and air) CRUNCHING. To be fair it was the first food he had eaten in about a day; he did though. Fecking hoola hoops are the crunchiest snacks ever.

AllotmentFreak · 15/01/2012 20:51

DP sits next to me breaking open the nuts left over from Christmas with his TEETH aaarrrggghhhhhhh

anonacfr · 15/01/2012 23:40

Agree the blowy sucky soup thing is vile. I still think the gulpy throaty thing is the worst though. Specially as I find myself observing every sip and waiting for it to happen.
And when it does...... Angry

KateUnrulyBush · 16/01/2012 15:21

Egg, that reminds me when I was in labour with ds, I was sooo calm and breezy, loving my tens machine, all smiles etc etc.

Dh couldn't believe it, he thought I'd be shouting and swearing at him, telling him to feck off and never come near me again. But no, I was all 'i love you dh, I'm so excited our baby is coming soon' blah blah

Then he brings out this tube of pringles... Angry

I roared. Even the midwife jumped out of her skin. Felt good it did!

coccyx · 16/01/2012 15:28

YaNNNNNNbu. I feel like committing murder when DH eats most things. too noisy and mouth open

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 16/01/2012 17:44

the swallow gulp...................... dear god!!

Eggrules · 16/01/2012 19:36

Snap Kate It was all fine before and after the hula hoops. It was the crunching that did it; I was fine with him eating.

devonshiredumpling · 16/01/2012 21:15

mine irratates me by cracking his walnuts in his hand then flinging the shells in a huge metal bowl

RachelHRD · 16/01/2012 21:31

Dh was 'inhaling his dinner earlier and was lucky not to be wearing it at one point Hmm and THEN he had the nerve to start crunching on an ice cube................

IwoulddoPachacuti · 17/01/2012 12:02

DH doesn't drink his cups of tea, he it. Every mouthful. It makes me want to kill. Angry

And by God he can snore. I think I'm going to have to get earplugs before I castrate him.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 17/01/2012 21:36

DH has just opened a bag of sweets............. my telephone interview I mentioned a few days ago went well and tomorrow I have a face to face interview. I am also premenstrual. If I were DH I would emigrate for the night.

This is actually a recognised condition. It's called Misophobia and is a heightened sensitivity to noises that causes aggressive feelings.

isthisrude · 17/01/2012 22:37
  • it's particularly caused by hearing people eating (especially your nearest and dearest). Yes I have googled it.
