I know this has been done before but...beautiful £800,000 house in Marlow, stunning but y'know -just not quite good enough for them.

Why is everyone on that programme so up themselves? It's lovely house, you are very, very fortunate, buy it and piss off.

sorry what is a Hof house ?

joannita · 12/01/2012 21:42

YANBU - They are smug smug smug! And you can tell they've planned their location wardrobe thoroughly. Do you hate Kirsty and Phil too? I want to but can't.

ouryve · 12/01/2012 21:43

over, not our. No way do i have 800K!

joannita · 12/01/2012 21:43

Applemartini Kevin is fit though. Or am I just a sicko?

NinkyNonker · 12/01/2012 21:44

What bugs me is how much importance so many people place on how much the house will impress their friends. Sad.

NinkyNonker · 12/01/2012 21:44

I love Kirsty and Phil.

MollieO · 12/01/2012 21:47

I think there are nicer and cheaper houses in Marlow than that one. The kitchen units look cheap, as if they've spent all their money on the building work.

sozzledchops · 12/01/2012 21:47

Loved the Grand Design House think in the Lake District with the guy whose wife was Thai or Filipino. They went way over budget and in the end some viewer actually donated the money to finish it. It was absolutely stunning.

coraltoes · 12/01/2012 21:50

Ah of course, just because they have a lot of cash means they should settle for a house they don't like?! I turned down lots of houses when searching based on lack of character, too dark, not enough garden space etc you do know that's your prerogative when buying?

NormanTebbit · 12/01/2012 21:50

The Hof house episode is legendary because of it's demonstration of German Vorsprung Durch Technik. They basically turned up and built a beautiful house in a few days, everything went to plan. I think they even finished early because they wanted to get home for the world cup. Was beautiful to watch.

I quite like Grand Designs and agree that caravan = second or third baby on the way. I've noticed that the houses never come out as big as they'd hoped and the final scene shows a beautiful house... that will never ever in a million years house all the kids crap and I always feel slightly worried for them on this front Grin

I then wonder if they subsequently sell up for a spacey functional detached with a garage down the road.

NinkyNonker · 12/01/2012 21:54

It was just a model of efficiency.

You always want more than your budget. We upped our budget at the end of last year, and suddenly all the houses we wanted were yet another £50k above.

Figgyrolls · 12/01/2012 21:55

I thought you were going to say about Kirsty and Phil and I was going to have to come on and say YABU, but the punters - holy cow YANBU.

I often wondered if Kirsty and Phil would find me a house.......one can wish!

happyhorse · 12/01/2012 21:56

Did anyone else think that Phil's face was a very odd colour in tonight's episode?

Applemartini · 12/01/2012 21:58

joannita Kevin does not do it for me. I find him too posh and a bit poncy. Grin However he was quite sweet on the episode when he fell embarrassingly in love with a lady who was project managing her whole build. It was the only time no word of criticism dropped from his lips. He was blown away by her vision etc etc. Bless him. They had to get the credits rolling pretty quick that episode before the poor chap combusted :)

NinkyNonker · 12/01/2012 21:59

I thought the single lady looked ill in some shots.

I would love K&P to find us a house. We have found one now, fingers crossed, but picking good areas etc can be a right faff.

I don't understand why / how the people on Location location have so much money to spend on houses.

I'm in the wrong job, I suppose.

TimorousBeastie · 12/01/2012 22:03

"The Hof house episode is legendary because of it's demonstration of German Vorsprung Durch Technik. They basically turned up and built a beautiful house in a few days, everything went to plan."

Except for the British builders, who if I recall rightly were late and held everything up....

Vicky2011 · 12/01/2012 22:03

Tonight's episode was annoying even by normal LLL standards. I kept wondering why the apparently quite sensible and normal woman was with that child Damien and then I remembered that she was buying an £800k house with him.

I too wonder how they acquire their money - what kind of career, inheritance etc.

Most of the buyers end up staing in Blighty - foolish IMO. I'd be out of the UK in a week in my posh property if I could afford to live abroad, a house here would be nice too

Bumperlicious · 12/01/2012 22:17

A Huf Haus - lovely!

FriendofDorothy · 12/01/2012 22:21

The single lady looked really odd in the last interview. She had either used too much light-reflecting make-up or she was proper poorly.

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 12/01/2012 22:22

Oh I'm so glad other people feel like this. What makes it annoying is my brother lives in one of those 'forever homes' and yes, ok, I'm bloody jealous! We live in a decent 4 bed detached in suburbia which is basically, mind numbingly boring!

Whoever said about Phil's face - yes it was orange!
