I know this has been done before but...beautiful £800,000 house in Marlow, stunning but y'know -just not quite good enough for them.

Why is everyone on that programme so up themselves? It's lovely house, you are very, very fortunate, buy it and piss off.

normantebbit its so annoying isnt it picky buggers ! , and i also think they are up to their eyeballs in debt to afford these houses ,

marriedinwhite · 12/01/2012 20:59

Looked like they were getting quite a lot for their money to me but I'm sitting on the river in South West London Grin. I think Kirsty is lovely. Do any of you have any idea how much it costs to get a professional agent to assess the market, source properties that meet your requirements, and negotiate on your behalf. The guys on tv get the service for free and those with houses to sell in the locations get some free marketing albeit a bit time lagged.

How exciting, I come from Marlow so will be off to watch that on catch up tv :-)
Have name changed btw!!! I also don't have £800k!

NormanTebbit · 12/01/2012 21:03

I remember one woman who rejected a gorgeous Georgian detached home with it's own grounds...

Because she sighted an aeroplane in the distance. And some awful country person was driving a tractor in the distance.

I mostly dislike the presenters - I like to call them Smug and Smarm. And I blame them for our 'debt' problem.

mrsjay · 12/01/2012 21:05

lol@some awful country person Grin that tickled me ,

Pishtushette · 12/01/2012 21:08

I can no longer watch Grand Designs because of my Envy. I know it's not good to feel this way...

mrsjay · 12/01/2012 21:11

I love the end product of grand designs although i am also [envious] but to be honest these people go WAY over budget and probably never ever own their house and their grandbabies will still be paying the bill when its passed down to them ,

caramelwaffle · 12/01/2012 21:12

Oh, I LOVE property porn.

mrsjay · 12/01/2012 21:12

happybubblebrain I agree with you people just get to damn greedy

TimorousBeastie · 12/01/2012 21:14

Agree about Damien's hats Grin.

And those houses, well they weren't quite perfect enough were they. Bedrooms had no character? Different furniture and walls, different carpets or rugs if they can afford it, and they'd look completely different, that's a no-brainer. But I guess with 800k to spend you want it just so.

But yes, I mainly wonder where the hell they got such huge wads of cash and why don't I have such huge wads.

By the way folks, they're not properties - they're houses.

NormanTebbit · 12/01/2012 21:16

Grand Designs properties often look like museums or heathrow terminal 5 after the long construction/ soul searching and wanking on about the 'space' and 'materials'

I loved the one with the forester though. And the Hof (?) house - that is a classic

I dont watch grand designs very often tbh DH watches it and its on I saw somebody who built underground they dug into the rock to go live there Shock . And alot of them have huge glass windows/walls Smeary hell imo

HarrietSchulenberg · 12/01/2012 21:33

I almost posted the exact same thing one day last week. Either I've missed a hell of a lot of episodes of these programmes or they never film anyone with a budget of under about £500k.

I'd love to see them try to find a half decent house for normal people for under £150k. Without it just being a field with planning permission.

And I've never understood why so many of the people filmed are so bloody ungrateful.

NormanTebbit · 12/01/2012 21:34

Aye kitchens with£6000 taps Hmm on the 'tight' budget.

OP posts:
TimorousBeastie · 12/01/2012 21:35

Anyone see that Grand Designs one in London where they had an industrial-size cooker worth 32k - for just two people Confused.

ouryve · 12/01/2012 21:35

If i was shelling our £800,000, I would want a house to be absolutely perfect.

crypes · 12/01/2012 21:37

And, and why do they always stand in the farmhouse kitchen and say 'we could really imagine entertaining friends here, cooking for family and friends and having them round to stay' Seems to me your fricking showoffs.

mrsjay · 12/01/2012 21:37

OH GOD yes bespoke cabinets made with hand chopped swedish pine must be such a bind Hmm I think i must take more in of Grand designs that i thought ,

mrsjay · 12/01/2012 21:39

I have seen L L L oop north and in scotland they cant work out the Offers over thing we have ,

mrsjay · 12/01/2012 21:40

A WHAT HOW MUCH FOR A COOKER ! really ? well there you go i didnt know cookers were worth 32k

Applemartini · 12/01/2012 21:40

I find Grand designs even more annoying, Kevin is really full of himself going on the whole time about architectural integrity , and he can barely contain his glee when everything goes tits up for the couple. Also in grand designs as soon you can guarantee that as a couple with one child start ripping up the house and move into a caravan you can be sure the woman will be up the duff five seconds later. Then there will be terror in case the baby is born in the OMG caravan, god forbid at christmas time.

But the hof house one was good i do agree normantebbit
