AIBU in thinking there should be more Beverleys?

Beverleys are all kind and warm people who make excellent nurses and dinner ladies. I think just being called Beverley (or Beverly) makes people cuddly and loving. Nerys Hughes would make a wonderful Beverley. As far as I know, there has never been a major war started by somebody called Beverley.
Maybe criminals/members of parliament should be made to change their names to Beverley to make them change their naughty ways?

It always makes me think of Beverly Macker

BleatingRose · 11/01/2012 14:15

One of the nicest, kindest people I have ever known was named Beverley (well 'Bev' mostly).

albertswearingen · 11/01/2012 14:17

It is a male name as well- maybe some mn's should start a trend- lots of small boys called Beverly.

cwtch4967 · 11/01/2012 14:29

Another Beverley here! I'm also 44 - I used to dislike my name but have grown to love it. Most people call me Bev.

ExitPursuedByaBear · 11/01/2012 14:31

My first holiday crush was a boy called Beverley.

So there.

ExitPursuedByaBear · 11/01/2012 14:31

I have also been out with a Lindsey.

nickelhasababy · 11/01/2012 14:32

my sister's a Beverly.
She prefers Bev (cos everyone she knows pronounces it "bev-lehhhhh")

She's not that cuddly. But she is lovely and generous.
and she's a fab mummy.

goatshavestrangeeyes · 11/01/2012 14:33

My mum is a Beverley and fwiw she is a horrible, horrible woman!

ViviPru · 11/01/2012 14:36

Is it a Welsh name, cwtch? (I know I could just google but its more sociable to ask)

cwtch4967 · 11/01/2012 14:37

Not a welsh name.

likelucklove · 11/01/2012 14:39

I know a Beverly... Not a v nice person as a work colleague and friend but another Bev I work with is lovely :) I think they cancel each other out!

BupcakesandCunting · 11/01/2012 15:13

My mum is a Beverley and GUESS WHAT TIGGY D?

She is bosomy, cuddly AND a dinnerlady (well, kind of. She is a catering manager) There is a picture of her on my profile.

TheSherbetTurbot · 11/01/2012 16:10

I'm a Beverley. I am absolutely none of these things. Except the bosomy bit. Definitely not matronly though. I don't particularly like my name. I wish I had been called Rebecca.

Merran · 11/01/2012 17:09

There are not enough Mirandas around, pr Pamelas.

Kikithecat · 11/01/2012 17:31

I think we now have conclusive proof that whilst not all Beverleys are nice, they sare indeed ALL bosomy.

TroublesomeEx · 11/01/2012 17:35

happybubblebrain · 11/01/2012 17:40

There is a Bev that works in my local branch of Wilkos. She has brown medium length hair, she's a bit chubby and has a friendly face. She doesn't look like she would harm anyone. That is my only experience of the Beverley.

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 11/01/2012 17:47

The male version of Beverley is Trevor.

Bev 'n' Trev.

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 11/01/2012 17:48

That's just my opinion, it isn't really.

Kikithecat · 11/01/2012 17:50

I know someone whose wife is called Bev and whose best friend is Trev. S you must be right.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 11/01/2012 17:56

Used to work in the same place as one. She was bosomy, in a monoboob way, but sadly was nit-picky, bureaucratic, petty, and on the one occasion I needed her professional help, incompetent and actually downright unpleasant.

Sorry ...

breatheslowly · 11/01/2012 17:58

The Beverley I know is not bosomy or matronly - she is actually very attractive and lovely. She has the best smile of anyone I know. I'm not sure I would want to be told that my name would make me a great dinner lady (no offence to dinner ladies).

ComposHat · 11/01/2012 17:59

"I like Demis Roussos, Ange likes Demis Roussos..."

I flipping love 'Forever and Ever' and no I am not being clever or ironic here!

But like you, I can't look beyond Abigail's Party when it comes to Beverley.
