to eat like a student when I am the only one in the house

can't be bothered to cook properly when there is only me in the house so last night I had tuna mayonnaise & sweetcorn on toast and tonight I'm having beans with some other stuff chucked in -on toast!

I would never eat like this when the dcs are at home so why to I revert to student eating habbits when I am by myself?

Yep, me too. DH is off out tonight and my menu choices are a combination of:

Bovril on toast
Beans
Microwave curry
Crisps
Christmas cake
Parma ham
Fizzy multicolour belt sweets Blush

LineRunner · 31/12/2011 19:37

Eat it all, mistress.

33goingon64 · 31/12/2011 19:47

When I am alone I eat crunchy nut cornflakes out of the box either standing up in the kitchen or on the sofa with the telly on (something really trashy which I would tut at if DH put it on).

hwjm1945 · 31/12/2011 19:49

when on own, i plan it, i have crisp butties and then cereal, special K with red berries followed by ben and jerry's frozen yoghurt. love it. might even have afag as well if DH not back that night, so can get rid of the smell

mistressploppy · 31/12/2011 19:52

Yeah, LineRunner. I've started on the fizzy belts and Parma ham. I thought they'd have an affinity of sorts...Grin

LineRunner · 31/12/2011 20:12

Ah, fizzy belts wrapped in a moist petard of parma ham.

Or, as our student days would have had it, sweets and bacon and shit

Cybbo · 31/12/2011 20:13

I have double fried egg on toast when I'm alone. White toast. And I watch Bargain Hunt

CheerfulYank · 31/12/2011 20:21

Last night I ate instant mashed potatoes with lashings of butter and garlic salt in front of Jersey Shore. Xmas Blush

goldbow · 31/12/2011 20:25

Me too, when DDs and Dh were away i had a take-away and the next night brie on toast, yum.

chipmunksex · 31/12/2011 20:32

I would advise removing the manky sweetcorn from the chicken and mushroom potnoodle after leaving it for 5-10 mins (longer if you can wait-3 mins forsooth Hmm), then it's nice and thick.
I used to take it out whilst the kettle was boiling, but found this made the resulting noodle a tad too runny.

On my own I eat ham and crisp sandwiches or fried egg on toast. yum

catgirl1976 · 31/12/2011 20:35

omg i thought i was alone on the sweetcorn but so far there are 3 of us! amazing!! :)

GoingForGoalWeight · 31/12/2011 20:38

YANBU - it's good Xmas Grin

FairToMiddlin · 31/12/2011 20:38

I am guilty of liking the odd pot noodle.

Sometimes I add dry cream crackers to make it unbelievably thick.

SmethwickBelle · 31/12/2011 20:50

My favourite on my own foods:

  1. Tinned tomato soup done in the microwave with cut up cheddar cheese chunks thrown in when it comes out
  2. Bowls of shreddies
  3. A block of stilton and a jar of branston pickle (that's the ritzy option)
LineRunner · 31/12/2011 20:52

Pot noodle should be grateful to us for pointing out its flaws.

And send us freebies.

maras2 · 31/12/2011 22:01

OMG. I'm scoffing a crisp and salad cream sandwich as I lurk. All other family at a party and I'm in bed with the lurgy(and my student sandwich)I'm 60 FCS.I would kill for a cup of Ovaltine,DH. left me with loads of O.J.and pints of water but I could do with a slug of vodka to go in the OJ.

AtAmber · 01/01/2012 02:14

I love bacon and mushroom toast toppers when I'm by myself. I get quite excited when I know I can have them!

LineRunner · 01/01/2012 02:39

maras salt and vinegar crisp and salad cream sandwiches - sublime.

AtAmber do they still sell those tiny little tins of toast toppers? Dead 70s, that is.

MotherMucca · 01/01/2012 02:56

Me and the boy had tomatoes on toast for breakfast, potato (mash from last night), beans and cheese pie at dinner. He is a student he is 9

giraffesCanGoFirstFootingOnNYE · 01/01/2012 02:56

could be worse - could be pot noodle

CheerfulYank · 01/01/2012 04:45

Is pot noodle what we would call ramen?

giraffesCanGoFirstFootingOnNYE · 01/01/2012 09:52

dried noodles in plastic tub, just add water
