To demand a 'I can't be arsed with New Years Eve' thread?

I really thought there would be more threads on this by now? I am clearly a miserable old bag. I will be staying in with my bottle of wine and Twiglets.
I really can't be arsed with New Years Eve! :))

Can I join the Miserable Old Bag club?

New Years Eve is too much. Too noisy, too busy, too drinky, too high expectations that are never metty.

It's been over ten years since I went 'clubbing' and didn't feel like someone's granny, perfering to be at home watching a film with a hot water bottle and a cup of tea.

The worst part? Am only 30!

But fuck it, am staying home!!

Grin

Have you guys all read Marian Keyes NYE Safe House idea??

LadyEatsCrispsALot · 30/12/2011 22:06

Welcome to the Miserable Old Bag Club. It's warm, safe and comfy! Xx

Pah! I can beat that, I'm only 25!

It's so enforced and it just seems to attract all the twats into town.

LadyEatsCrispsALot · 30/12/2011 22:20

brandy, do you need me to bring you some snacks??. Savoury variety or sweet? ;))

OP posts:
itsbrandybutterandtinseltime · 30/12/2011 22:24

D'you know lady, I'm feeling very uninspired in the snack department.

bucaneve · 30/12/2011 22:29

I'm going to a house party, am not really much of a partyer usually but it means I get to see my old school friends who I only really get to see in the Christmas or summer holidays. Am excited :)

MudAndGlitter · 30/12/2011 22:32

I'm 22 and I can't be bothered with it. I have £40 in m&s vouchers so I'm going to go and buy posh nice food and watch either the Tudors or the west wing.

LadyEatsCrispsALot · 30/12/2011 22:34

I would suggest dips and Crisps to start. Include Twiglets as a palate cleanser. Possibly pâté as well? Once sated with salt move on to Celebrations as they are small and you can pace your sugar intake?

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2011 22:35

What about some trifle? Grin

itsbrandybutterandtinseltime · 30/12/2011 22:44

Grin at Twiglets for a palate cleanser... I'm going to try that one next time I have people over for dinner!

Oooooh trifle, not had that in years. My nan used to take us all down the beach in the summer and take a massive picnic; sandwiches in triangles, crisps, butterfly cakes, a token apple... Anyway, for 'afters' she'd dig out this bloody great trifle in a cut glass crystal bowl with matching mini dishes. T'was lovely, and we'd all pile back home sticky and sandy in her mini. All 8 of us Grin Not had trifle since!

LadyEatsCrispsALot · 30/12/2011 22:44

I don't have any trifle. :((

itsbrandybutterandtinseltime · 30/12/2011 22:45

It's ok lady I'll get nanny brandy to make you one. Can you FedEx trifle?

Sparklingbrook · 30/12/2011 22:45

Still time to make one Lady. Grin

LadyEatsCrispsALot · 30/12/2011 22:47

Aw thanks. I feel a trip to well known supermarket required tomorrow. Including a Rom Com DVD to watch...

diddl · 31/12/2011 20:56

We´re also not going out.

CBA!

In fact I haven´t even bothered to open any wine-I think that that´ll be for tomorrow´s lunch nowBlush

Just tried to take the dog out & he was terrifiedSad

FutureNannyOgg · 31/12/2011 21:00

Shuffle up ladies.

I am in on my own while DH herds drunks working the doors in town. I just got DS down asleep and now it's me, a bottle of Asda's version of Shloer (am pg) and a bag of nuts. Oh yeah, that's how we roll down here....

ManateeEquineOhara · 31/12/2011 21:04

I can't be bothered with NYE in the slightest. Not sure I even want to stay up but the DCs do.

We move in 3 days and I need my sleep.

My attempt at being 'fun' was baking a 'using up food in the cupboard cake'. It is actually really disgusting.

flixy102 · 31/12/2011 21:05

Not going out either. Doesn't help that a few of my friends were planning their nite out on FB and didn't invite me -bitches-

Oh well, 2011 was shit anyway Sad gonna watch Alan Carr with DH then sleep!

bigeyes · 31/12/2011 21:05

Yes hoping dh falls asleep soon so can get downtown abbey box set on the go

diddl · 31/12/2011 21:07

Stollen, anyone?

tribpot · 31/12/2011 21:09

I'm going to log in to Animal Crossing to get a party popper off the mayor/tortoise. Plus tend to the cat (a real life cat) who is sensing the firework onslaught to come (my neighbours believe strongly that 'scenes from downtown Sarajevo' are a welcome treat every New Year / Bonfire Night - I fear there will be some competition with the Opening Ceremony at the Olympics next year).

I remember a quite scary NYE in Edinburgh one year, before they got on top of the ticketing and crowd control. We were in Princes Street Gardens and literally it turned into a mudslide. We were having to form human chains to rescue people who'd got stuck. I remember being acutely aware (due to being sober, probably) that if someone fell at the top and knocked a few people down there could be quite a nasty accident.

Good times!

ManateeEquineOhara · 31/12/2011 21:11

Oh Diddl you have just reminded me that due to my over-enthusiastic baking I also have much stollen to consume before I move :-/ 'Spose eating it could keep me going until midnight.

NormanTebbit · 31/12/2011 21:12

I'm at work Sad

But free in an hour!
