Puking in the bath...

malakadoush · 30/12/2011 11:04

My DH was ill last night - he had a bug - and instead of being sick in the loo he did it in the bath. This is the second time he's done it - he says chucking up in the loo is disgusting Hmm

I was so annoyed about him doing it in the bath I found it hard to be sympathetic. Spent half a hour bleaching and 'dettleing' the bathroom at midnight.

AIBU??

you what?

so instead of vomiting into a toilet - where it can be flushed away, he vomited into a bath, where it has to be manually removed and the bath cleaned?

Is he stupid?

And you - are you stupid? Grin You cleaned the bath? You should have left it there and thrown the gloves and bottle of bleach at him this morning!

ConnorCamden · 30/12/2011 11:08

That is just gross. How can puking in the toilet be disgusting???

GypsyMoth · 30/12/2011 11:08

Another one!!!

So many weak women on Mn!! And bastard men!!

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 30/12/2011 11:08

Your fault for cleaning it. Make him clean his own mess up and he will soon decide the easiest thing to do is to throw into the toilet.
I am with him on the toilet being disgusting though, I cannot bear to be sick into it, it makes me feel 100 times worse. I use a nice clean bucket with a bit of water and some pine or lemony disinfectant in the bottom. I do clean up my own though, no matter where it goes.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 30/12/2011 11:10

That's disgusting. He should clean it up himself.

HollyGhost · 30/12/2011 11:11

Why were you the one cleaning up his puke?

You do realise that not only is that demeaning, but it makes it v. likely that you will catch the bug?

EricNordmanfirandMistletoe · 30/12/2011 11:11

That is rank. Your DH is wrong and disgusting.

CailinDana · 30/12/2011 11:11

Your DH is weird and you're a mug. You're not his mother. If he wants to puke in the bath, he needs to clear it up. Get him a bucket to puke in in future.

MissMogwi · 30/12/2011 11:13

YANBU. That is disgusting, how is the bath better than the loo. If he couldn't get to the loo in time then fair enough, but to do it purpose? Ugh.

You should have made him clean it up himself though, if he chooses to throw up in the bath he should sort out the mess.

perceptionreality · 30/12/2011 11:16

YANBU! God how disgusting and selfish of him.

VeronicaSpeedwell · 30/12/2011 11:16

Urgh. I assumed this thread would be about an unwell 3 yo. Does he think the vomit fairy (i.e. you) will magic the chunks away?

TopazMortmain · 30/12/2011 11:19

Ew Ew Ew Ew

slavetofilofax · 30/12/2011 11:27

To be fair, puking into a dirty toils is pretty disgusting. It depends on how clean your toilet is.

I'm surprised by the amount of people saying that you are a mug for cleaning up his sick, the poor guy is ill!

I've cleaned dh's sick after he has been ill before, even a toilet will require some cleaning after someone has been sick into it. Generally I would prefer to clean my own sick, but when I was with ex, I was violently ill out of both ends once. I felt truly awful, and it would have been nice if he had offered to clean the sink that I was forced to throw up in because I needed to be seated on the toilet. I would do that for dh in a heartbeat.

SilentBoob · 30/12/2011 11:29

Funnily enough I do agree with him that puking in the loo is nasty. I also accept that I am odd in this respect and so I have a private and personal bathroom vomit bowl which I scrupulously clean after use and hide back under the basin.

Puking in the bath is wrong.
You cleaning it up for him beggars belief frankly.

Catsmamma · 30/12/2011 11:30

I cannot bear to be sick in the toilet, but we have sick bowls....and trained ALL the children to use them since they were tiny!

Catsmamma · 30/12/2011 11:31

...our sick bowls are also scrubbed and live under the bath!

thisisyesterday · 30/12/2011 11:31

i have to admit that while I do use the toilet if I am sick it really isn't particularly nice and it has crossed my mind to do it in the bath instead.
the reason I haven't is cos I would have to wash it"

i cannot believe you didn't make him clear it up though

EricNordmanfirandMistletoe · 30/12/2011 11:32

I would, and have, cleaned up DH's sick if he was unable to control where he did it. If he intentionally puked in the bath rather than the toilet I would be livid.

jasper · 30/12/2011 11:33

but once you've been sick in your special bowl, do you tip it down the loo or into the bath?

PeachyPossum · 30/12/2011 11:34

I have Chrohns and throw up all the time. I hate being sick in the toilet, and the thought makes it worse for me so I have sick bowls around the house in set places that we can all find quickly when I need one.

I thought you meant being sick whilst in the bath, which I do a lot of, but again with a bowl!

I think you DH is disgusting and selfish, he should use a bowl and clean up after himself!

Catsmamma · 30/12/2011 11:35

def the toilet....anyone who is sick anywhere other than the bowl gets to deal with it themselves.

untrained teenytinies excepted, but if I can get a two year old to aim for a bowl I really don't see why the Op's dh cannot.

SilentBoob · 30/12/2011 11:39

Oh the bowl gets tipped into the loo of course.

GypsyMoth · 30/12/2011 11:43

Those who have sick bowls...... This means you do it in front of others and make no attempt to get out of the way? Just sit/stand with the bowl?

TeamSledward · 30/12/2011 11:45

DS1 (6) was sick last night, in the bath.
I pointed him in that direction though as the toilet lid was down and I couldn't reach past him to open it!
TBH, I found it easier to clean the bath than to clean the toilet. We do have a high power shower spray and a large water outlet thingy, and it wasn't chunky sick either.

Chubfuddler · 30/12/2011 11:59

This is vile. Your husband sounds revolting.
