To give DS Thai curry

I'm making Thai Green Chicken Curry tonight for tea. Was thinking of saving some for nearly-11 month old DS for lunch/tea tomorrow. It won't be overly spicy (DP is a wimp), maybe a little bit of a kick. Will serve with lots of rice. DS generally eats anything and everything and is a gannet. Have just been on phone to friend with similar aged baby, and mentioned what I was cooking tonight, and that I planned to give some to DS and she nearly had a fit that I would give curry to a baby. I'm now wondering if i'm being too laissez faire about it!

FWIW I've tried DS on an Ella's Kitchen thai green curry pouch before and it was one of the few things he's ever refused- can't say I blame him, didn't smell (or taste) like any thai curry i've had before! Thought i'd try him on some proper stuff.

I do the same as Seabright - we eat a lot of curry in our house and I just add a bit of extra coconut milk or creme fraiche to the children's if it's on the hot side.

So did baby enjoy it? :)

Actually Thai babies are not usually given spicy food, and green curry is always supposed to be spicy. Yours isn't, so I would only worry about salt content or maybe allergy (ie shrimp paste).

Although my baby got spicy amniotic fluid and spicy breastmilk, we didn't rush to give him chilli. Other "hot" flavours like copious fresh ginger and garlic, but not deliberately chillies. When we did start letting him help himself to outside food (killer spicy NE Thai dishes), he opened his eyes wide but didn't complain. Other times he's cried. But by then I'm probably crying too.

Oh but be careful with little fingers/eyes. Spicy food smeared all over the face has caused many a tear to be shed in this house ;)
