I have cooked it once and I am nearly 42. I wanted to do it this year but my mother wanted to invite a few people so easier to do it at hers, only us 4 my parents and my sister. Going to do it next year.

XmasFayreToMiddlin · 26/12/2011 17:43

You are not a lazy trout.

You are a lucky trout.

Alliwantisaroomsomewhere · 26/12/2011 17:44

Lucky trout with lots of friends and / or family Xmas Grin.

GeriManda · 26/12/2011 17:44

I'm a decade older and have never done it either. Grin Good at laying the table though

Pascha · 26/12/2011 17:46

I am 34 and I have also never cooked christmas dinner. We do cook a meal, but its never a traditional roast. This year was individual beef wellingtons. I hate turkey anyway.

JingleBelleDameSansMerci · 26/12/2011 17:46

I'm 46 and although I've cooked Christmas dinner before, this is the first year I've cooked a turkey and ham. It can be avoided for years if you're careful...

lisad123 · 26/12/2011 17:47

Me neither Grin

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 26/12/2011 17:49

You are very lucky....long may it lastXmas Grin

I'm 37 and have done it twice....on e I worked a night shift then cooked it whilst feverish and feeling awful. I swore I would never work and entertain again.

Last year I worked and cooked it for me, dh and the boys. Still a load of hassle.

This year, working so no big dinner.....lovely!

Charbon · 26/12/2011 17:52

How many 37 year old men do you think there are who've never cooked Christmas dinner? Why should this be a surprise then?

Memoo · 26/12/2011 17:54

I'm good at arranging napkins and making glittery place cards.

brightermornings · 26/12/2011 17:54

I am 38 and never cooked it either. I don't intend to start either. Already been invited for Xmas 2012 Grin

Memoo · 26/12/2011 17:55

And yes I do have a wonderful family.

Mrsrobertduvall · 26/12/2011 18:00

I am 51 and have never cooked one.
i do a roast most weeks, and can't get excited about turkey.
i plan to maintain this for the next 30 years.

Memoo · 26/12/2011 18:01

MrsDuvall, you win, I'm impressed.

Haziedoll · 26/12/2011 18:02

Mrsrobertduvall · 26/12/2011 18:16

Thankyou Memoo.
I had M and S steak and kidney pie yesterday Grin

fifteenfiftyfive · 26/12/2011 18:24

Yes, indeed - isn't it sad that we find it worthy of comment that a woman hasn't done this, but that's pretty normal for most men? (At least in my circle of friends and family.)

In this house, DH and I cook it together - we each have our own areas of disaster strengths to play on.

Mrsrobertduvall · 26/12/2011 18:25

Dh's resolution is to expand his culinary repertoire beyond sea bass, roast potatoes and frittata.
He doesn't know this yet.

Dragonwoman · 26/12/2011 18:28

I am 40 something and have never cooked a Christmas dinner! I am a rubbish cook. DH always does it and has done for the last 7 years. Sometimes for as many as 14 people. Not always turkey though, sometimes beef 'cos we prefer that.

TadlowDogIncident · 26/12/2011 18:28

Lucky, lucky you. I'm also 37 and have cooked it at least 20 times. The mantle in my family of "she who cooks Christmas lunch" passed straight from my grandmother to me, without ever landing on my mother (who is 66 and has never cooked Christmas lunch!).

Dragonwoman · 26/12/2011 18:30

I find DH does it all very calmly too. One year he even did homemade bread for later while cooking Xmas lunch. We don't have a breadmaker, it all has to be done by hand. Didn't bother him at all!

Ephiny · 26/12/2011 18:32

I never have, never intend to. Well, I'll probably someday cook some kind of dinner on Christmas day if not invited to someone else's (assuming I can't order pizza) but it's unlikely to be a traditional 'roast' (or in our case a vegetarian version of it) as I really don't like it!
