What time did you start and how many units - honestly - did you consume on the BIG DAY?

EndoplasmicReticulum · 26/12/2011 09:09

Gin and tonic at 10 while opening presents (yes, I know that's early, family tradition!)
1 glass red wine with lunch.
Whisky and ginger before supper.
Baileys afterwards.

StealthPolarBear · 26/12/2011 09:11

glass of wine with lunch and then two bailey's at night (was driving). Also felt rough so didn't want to drink anyway.

Squeegle · 26/12/2011 09:12

Nothing for me! DP has a drink problem so better all round with nothing. Could have done with a couple mind you

2gorgeousboys · 26/12/2011 09:13

2/3 glasses of bucks fizz (more orange than fizz) between 10 and 2pm, Champagne from 2pm when DP's arrived until dinner (not sure how much as sipped whilst cooking), glass of Pinot Grigio with dinner followed by a glass of dessert wine. Topped off with an Amaretto when the boys were in bed .

It was drunk over a 12 hour period and with plenty of food so I felt fine yesterday and fine again today. Learnt from last year to stick to white wine with dinner if I've had fizz earlier Xmas Blush

Serenitysutton · 26/12/2011 09:16

1/2 bottle cava
1 baileys
1/2 bottle red
about 11 units?

TattyDevine · 26/12/2011 09:16

Started at 11am with some champagne, I think we opened a 2nd bottle but there were 6 adults drinking, so probably about 2 glasses. Moved on to Sav blanc whilst I was cooking the meal and finishing off gravy etc. Opened it to deglaze the pan, if I recall correctly. Probably had 2 glasses of that over the next couple of hours till dinner was served at 2pm and I then moved on to red. Probably one glass with dinner, then a good couple of glasses after. That took me through till 6pm when DH did children's bath and I fell asleep on the sofa, when I woke up I didn't fancy anymore. In all, it was probably at least a bottle and a half worth, but over many hours, but that would be why I felt a bit sweltery when I went to bed.

I woke up feeling absolutely fine this morning, probably because I stopped so long before going to bed, and downed 2 pints of orange juice and lemonade and a big bottle of mineral water.

Went out for lunch and I was driving so just one glass of wine during the day followed by an evening of Raspberry Sake, Blackberry Vodka and white wine.

pigletmania · 26/12/2011 09:30

None, I am 36 weeks pg

missmiss · 26/12/2011 09:32

About half a bottle of sherry. One glass of cava. That was from 10am-midnight.

Ephiny · 26/12/2011 09:35

Glass of white wine with my lunch, like I'd normally have with Sunday dinner.

I didn't know there was a particular tradition of drinking lots of alcohol on Christmas Day - I thought that was for New Year's Eve! Just don't ask me how many chocolates/biscuits/mince pies etc I ate... Blush

accidentalchickenkeeper · 26/12/2011 09:36

Started drinking after I'd driven our guests home at about 9pm. Had 3 black Russians then went to bed

BrianButterfield · 26/12/2011 09:40

Another sighing breast feeder here - the equivalent of one glass of cava spread through the day as v weak bucks fizzes, then a full glass of cava and a small bottle of beer after ds was asleep. (dreams of huge glasses of Chardonnay and pints of baileys).

FanjoForTheReindeerJumper · 26/12/2011 09:43

Not enough..about 2 units

RoxyRobin · 26/12/2011 09:46

Me, too Gurl - as well as kidney problems. I'm an alcohol-free zone. Still, on Boxing Day I get to point out to everyone (a) exactly how much they had to drink, usually underestimated by 50%, and (b) what they said and did after they'd had it! Xmas Grin

HoneyandHaycorns · 26/12/2011 09:46

2 glasses of bucks fizz with breakfast, at around 10.45.

One glass of mulled wine before late lunch at around 2pm

One and a half glasses of white wine with the late lunch, which we finished by around 4.30pm. Nothing after that.

It's more than I'd ever drink usually, but feel fine this morning! :)

westcottcitizen · 26/12/2011 09:47

Small glass dry sherry.
2.5 glasses champagne
1 glass white wine

That was between 11:30am and 4pm.

Not too bad - I thought I had drunk loads!

stinkingbishop · 26/12/2011 09:55

God everyone's so virtuous! Makes me feel less jealous as am preggers so did feel kinda left out. Basically everyone kept bringing things to the house I couldn't have - liver pate, smoked salmon, my GF's ancient (and beautiful) red wine, DB opened a 1994 bottle announcing 'this is a Super Tuscan, best wine in Italy'. Thanks everyone!!!

I did manage to make half a glass of Prosecco last longer than the bubbles though :)

TwelveGaysOfChristmas · 26/12/2011 09:59

Three glasses of white wine spritzer. I would have had more, but DP stopped me. Apparently my antidepressants enhance the effects of alcohol so it's no wonder I was feeling more than a little merry!

Tip: Do not play Monopoly when drunk. Especially if you're the banker. You'll be taken advantage of by the rest of the players. "But I haven't had my £200 for passing Go!" "Didn't I already buy this property?!" "Yay! The Chance card says you owe me money!"

DontCryWithYourMouthFull · 26/12/2011 10:03

None, can't bear drinking.

WhatsWrongWithYule · 26/12/2011 10:06

Bailey's while cooking lunch, then couple of glasses of Cava. Glass of white later on with supper, but I actually only drank half as I could feel myself starting to get a bit maudlin.
I'm sure much more would have been imbibed had I not slept for two hours in the late afternoon!
Had water before bed and just feel a bit tired as usual today.

Glass and half of champagne, glass and a half Sauvignon blanc. That's it. Wanted more champagne about 10pm but that would have meant opening another bottle so we decided against it. Might have it today.
