You know the ones that begin with "As another year draws to an end, I find myself sitting trying to find a few mins, to tell you how many wonderful holidays I have been on, and what gifted little children Jonny and Jane are blah blah blah, bahhhh humbug Xmas Grin

I think they are dreadful; fortunately I don't get many! I have a cousin who does one and last year's beat all the records in superlatives. She has toned it down considerably this year... I suspect she may have had a few comments on last year's!

Anna1976 - and is your sister happy in her parental wish-fulfilling role? Because I have a younger sister who made all the right moves (married young to international businessman, three children, house in London, house in France bla bla bla) but she is miserable and hates her husband (who hates her). It's all a sham. She, and my mother, find it intolerable that I, who did not do all those parental wish-fulfilling things in my 20s and 30s, am a zillion times happier than she!

I still don't understand why people keep contact with people they don't like.

(Bonsoir: yes - I think she's happy. But I think I'm happier, though only when I'm in the UK! anyway - round robin letters - i love the really over the top ones, my parents certainly get a few Xmas Grin)

I only get one. I don't send them a card, don't know the wife, she writes it, ex boyfriend from when I was 16-23, she's chair of the PTA, mentions her family lots (of course, but WHO?!!!) It's classic, would be sad if I did they didn't send it (a bit) because it gives us lesser mortals a laugh!
