to leave the poo in the bath for DH to deal with?

Dh is usually home in time to bath dd (18 months), read her bedtime stories while she has her milk and put her to bed. I'm always pretty wiped out by the time he gets here and it's really nice to hand over and go and sit down for a bit. Tonight dh rang up at teatime and asked if I'd mind if he went out for a drink after work instead. I said that was fine as long as he isn't really late as I had an early start this morning to go and visit a friend who lives 2 hours drive away.

In the bath, dd did a poo. I really hate that. She's only done it a handful of times and it's always been dh who has cleared it up. This is mainly because the first time it happened I was in the throes of morning sickness and the sight of it made me want to vom, so bath poos kind of became his job.

I've got dd into bed, and now I should go and clean up the mess. But I'm really, really tempted to leave it for dh to do when he comes home. Is that so unreasonable? It's been a hectic, though pleasant day and I'm really knackered. I'm past the morning sickness stage now so that's no excuse, but I have done my back in carrying dd around with soft pregnant ligaments so it would be quite painful leaning over the bath sorting it out. Please tell me I can leave it for dh and I'm not just being a lazy arse!

Well it's done. The bathroom is bleached and sparkling. But it's all over for my back. All over, I tell you. I am now going to go and lie on a hard surface for the remainder of the evening.

Yay! Good for you. If life were a video game, you would have just leveled up.

ABumDance · 20/12/2011 20:58

Haha nizlopi I can imagine it now. Well done Rhubarb it's always harder to go back to that kind of thing, next time just fling it in the toilet straight away. I'm not looking forward to the bath poo stage, I can tell you that. Xmas Envy

AgentZigzag · 20/12/2011 21:11

I must be incredibly lucky, neither of mine have ever number twoed in the bath.

smokinaces · 20/12/2011 21:12

ABumDance, I have a 5 year old DS and a 3 year old DS and have never had a poo in the bath incident, so it may not happen for you either!

HarrietSchulenberg · 20/12/2011 21:17

This reminds me of one evening a few years ago when I was washing up downstairs and H was upstairs bathing dses 1 and 2. I will never forget the immortal words he uttered (very loudly) that evening. "HarrietSchulenberg come up here now." Long pause. "And bring the sieve."

Turned out ds2 had done a poo in the bath and H just didn't know what to do.

Needless to say I didn't use the sieve.

HarrietSchulenberg · 20/12/2011 21:17

Oh, should have added, YABU - get that poo gone now woman!

ZombieMonkeyBrains · 20/12/2011 21:20

I'd say it's yours to deal with, but the thread title is fantastic.

Rhubarbgarden · 20/12/2011 21:38

To be fair, I would have scooped and flushed immediately had it not been of the wet variety, so it went to poo soup pretty much instantly. Which is why I had to just continue with dd's bedtime routine and worry about it after she'd gone to bed. By which time I couldn't be arsed.

Arf at the sieve request, Harriet.

My life needs more poo threads!

rookiemater · 20/12/2011 21:48

That is hysterical Harriet, one dreads to think what he had in mind for the sieve.

DeckTheHugeWithBoughsOfManatee · 20/12/2011 21:56

This is the funniest thing I've read on MN all week [grin ]

Minshu · 20/12/2011 22:06

I once inadvertantly (honestly) left one - forgot to drain a bath with oilatum in it, so I hadn't seen it happen somehow. DP discovered and dealt with the hidden treasure a few hours later. Nice.

Splinters · 20/12/2011 22:23

I love poo threads the best too. OP, can you get your dd to do another one so we can all talk about it for a bit longer? Ta!

QuietNinjaMincepie · 20/12/2011 22:37

I cleaned up soggy dog poo that ds trod in then tramped all along the hall. Does that mean I level up?

LaitAuChocolat · 20/12/2011 22:45

In all my born days I have NEVER heard of a kid shitting in the bath. even with 4, its not something i have ever encountered. Gadzooks!

GreenIceAndChristmasHam · 20/12/2011 22:47

Well I was all set to offer up my worldly wise advice but I see I am no longer required.

Splinters · 20/12/2011 22:53

I remember once when I was v small going with a group of families to a public outdoor paddling pool. One of the older boys spent quite a long time running round with a bucket trying to catch a poo that had mysteriously appeared.

Rhubarbgarden · 20/12/2011 23:06

Splinters I am sure she will oblige again at some point. Although fortunately it is a relatively rare occurrence.

Dh hugged me when he came home and found I'd already dealt with it (I had sent him a text earlier informing him there was poo bath awaiting his attention). He was more than happy to do the washing up.
