12 yr old watching the new Inbetweeners DVD?

Please settle this argument for us please. I have some friends round this evening with their ds aged 12 (I also have 12 year old.)
I recently bought this dvd for me and dh to watch without my ds around.
I mentioned we'd bought it and everyone wants to watch it.
My friends and dh are up for watching it, I'm not keen.

No

JamieComeHome · 18/12/2011 20:32

Noooo

clare458 · 18/12/2011 20:33

Thank you! I have now hidden the dvd!

I would say no. It's an 18. Maybe at 13 or 14.

The film is only a 15 though.

Is it the film you're talking about?

JamieComeHome · 18/12/2011 20:34

Wow, only 2 of us.

ViviPrudolf · 18/12/2011 20:34

That will be massively uncomfortable for everyone. Big fat NO

MillyR · 18/12/2011 20:34

What are the most inappropriate parts of it?

squeakytoy · 18/12/2011 20:34

It wouldnt bother me that a 12yo had watched it, but I wouldnt want to watch it with them. I would find that very uncomfortable.

exexpat · 18/12/2011 20:35

Have the boys seen Inbetweeners before? I think some of the TV episodes are rated 15, some 18; the film is a 15. I'm assuming there is lots of swearing and a fair amount of sexual content, if the film is like the TV series.

I am OK with my (reasonably mature) 13 year old watching it, but if you have any doubts, then just say no.

Lorna99 · 18/12/2011 20:35

It's certainly not something you'd want to watch with your kids, even if you didn't mind them watching it. They'd probably be mortified at watching it with their parents anyway.

Liluri · 18/12/2011 20:35

Not a chance.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 18/12/2011 20:36

I would say no because we watched it last night and it is unbelievably, incredibly shit Grin

clare458 · 18/12/2011 20:37

Yes, it is a 15 (the movie.) But to be honest even if my ds was 15, it's not really the kind of thing you'd want to watch with your parents/child.
I've seen most of the series and find it very funny, but they're 12 and if it was suitable for 12 year olds it would say 12 on the cover. (As I've already pointed out!)

Yeah I was disappointed with the film. The TV series was very good.

TheFestiveWife · 18/12/2011 20:37

Good god no. I went to see it in the cinema and whilst it is frigging hiliarious it's definately not for anyone under 14/15.

clare458 · 18/12/2011 20:37

Oh is it, WhereTheWildThingsWere?

OP posts:
clare458 · 18/12/2011 20:38

I loved the series!

clare458 · 18/12/2011 20:40

The boys haven't seen any episodes of it, but they've also just started secondary school and lots of their friends have!

I loved the series too, three of us watched it last night all excited, I think we laughed, oooh maybe 5 times. And we were all pissed tipsy.

LordOfTheFlies · 18/12/2011 22:28

I haven't seen the film (loved the series).

I'm sure 99% would be over DS head. He's 12 yo.
He watched Micheal McIntyre last night (who I don't consider to be rude TBH) and he was a bit Hmm at some of it .
I wouldn't let him watch it .

LynetteScavo · 18/12/2011 22:31

The clue is in the certificate.

LaurieFairyCake · 18/12/2011 22:33

The first scene is someone masturbating to porn in a gimp mask.

It could not be more unsuitable for under 15's.

LineRunnerCrouchingReindeer · 18/12/2011 22:34

Mine watched it today (14 and 15). They wouldn't let me in the room.

LineRunnerCrouchingReindeer · 18/12/2011 22:35

They get taught about masurbation at school, though.

BellaVita · 18/12/2011 22:36

I would not let my 12 year old DS watch it. However our nearly 15 year old DS1 has the box set and I have bought him the DVD as a stocking filler.

I would not be happy with a "family" viewing.
