Apart from a few people going 'what a shame' for 5 minutes.

Nobody has that much impact on a site do they?

There have been some high profile bannings and exits that I could mention in recent times, but it has made absolutely no difference to MN in my view.

My MN life has changed dramatically since I learned how to hide topics.

GypsyMoth · 16/12/2011 19:06

Pm's can come to your email I think, unless you switch the settings

Grin

I am guilty of shit like this myself, have got in a mood a couple of times and said 'right that's it, I am off'.

I do like the fact however that we do have discussions with the site owners, and that sometimes they take on board our comments. I think it's great and one of MN's great strengths. So I feel entitled to moan like a bastard about things I don't like, and sometimes things are changed.

But - essentially it is someone's business, and it isn't a social enterprise, presumably they are here to make money. So they will make the commercial decision which suits them.

The fB thing - I will probably just name change a lot more.

It always makes me chuckle when I see posters have crept quietly back within a few days after a loud flounce. I would have at least had the grace to namechange so it wasn't so obvious Grin

(Not that I have ever flounced, not enough moral fibre)

scottishmummy · 16/12/2011 19:09

when read flouncers I always think who are you
all the gushing and sycophancy,v funny
and lots Sad humph faces

baubleybobbityhat · 16/12/2011 19:12

No, but maybe a few people will miss you and would like you to say goodbye if you decide to leave. Flouncing and leaving are two quite different things.

But, of course, no individual member makes that much difference to a site.

LineRunnerCrouchingReindeer · 16/12/2011 19:17

I admire them for not changing their names.

Morloth · 16/12/2011 19:19

YABU, I love a good flounce.

I am always so tempted to post 'well fuck off then' in between all the sucking up posts, but then I remember I don't actually give a shit either way, so I wander off and do something else.

The FB thing is just weird, people seem to think MN is some private little members club.

scottishmummy · 16/12/2011 19:37

people come,people go on mn
no individual poster defines the mood, tempo or vibe of mn.so all the handwringing when someone gets huff or is booted off, well it's a bit soft.because actually within week all forgotten, until a rogue where is so and so thread

TheCrackFox · 16/12/2011 19:52

YANBU

Nobody really gives a toss if people stay or go.

FrothingBeserker · 16/12/2011 20:03

Actually, the SN section has been decimated over the past couple of years by the relentless pursuit of evermore publicity and greater posting numbers. It is nothing like it was a few years ago. And it is one place where a backstory is often needed, order to get advice that is specific and relevant. Constant namechanging has really messed that up.

And MN was a very rare site for SN, in that the advice in the SN section was absolutely priceless. Have lost count of the number of dxs, statements, courses and therapies that have been gained for posters - advice that simply cannot be found elsewhere.

Yes, I know that they are a relatively small number to MNHQ, but it was a lifeline to many. And one that is just not available in the same way anymore.

usualsuspect · 16/12/2011 20:03

If I flounced I would have to keep checking back to see if anyone had missed me Grin

baubleybobbityhat · 16/12/2011 20:56

Am truly sorry to hear that frothingb Sad. That is a real shame.

Oakmaiden · 16/12/2011 20:59
